At breakfast the next day, Harry ate bacon and told us about how he became seeker. Jason pondered thoughtfully(duh, he was pondering): "I wanna try out..." George and Fred locked into our conversation.

"You can't"

"Try out"

"If you're"

"First year."

I was impressed. Carter came over: "Do you know twins seem to be able to do that?" Sadie shoved him back: "Thanks, Mr. Wikipedia." Harry gestured with his fork: "The mail is here!" The first time the owls came, I had a heart attack. Annabeth shooed them off of me, probably with some weird owl telephatic voodoo magic. I looked over everyone else's stuff, curious. Harry squealed, which is kinda weird, like, ever see a eleven guy squeal? I may have been kidding about the squealing part, but he was still ecstatic. Wow, I used a big word. Never mind. He was tearing a straight package apart. Of course, I joined in. It was a brand new... "Sweeping broom?" Ron rolled his eyes: "It's the newest broom! It's the best yet!" Lavinia nodded like she actually knew something. Harry saw a note:

DO NOT OPEN THE PARCEL AT THE TABLE.
It contains your new Nimbus Two Thousand, but I don't want everybody knowing you've got a broomstick or they'll all want one. Oliver Wood will meet you tonight on the Quidditch field at seven o'clock for your first training session.

Harry gulped: "Well, I guess I should wrap it up." We wrapped it up, marvelling at the fact that the professor actually bought the best broom for Harry. We were going up the staircase for Muggle Studies, Malfoy caught up. He sneered, which he seemed to do a lot: "New broom, Potty? Wait until I tell the teacher!" Professor Flitwick waddled his way out of breakfast, obviously to prepare for his Charms class. Or whatever else teachers do in their spare time. Any way, Malfoy looked like Christmas came early. Even though I'm not Christian, I know that's a big deal. "Professor, Potter has a broomstick!" Malfoy called, a smirk on his face. Sadie whispered: "Shut the hell up!" Malfoy said: "And Caramel Girl is insulting me!" Sadie looked like she wanted to charge and stomp on him until he's a pancake(yep, still thinking about food). Just before Malfoy's impending pancake doom, Flitwick arrived. "Ah, I believe this is Harry's new broom for Quidditch. It's a Nimbus 2000, I assume? And Miss Kane, Please do not insult anyone." Ferret face  was shocked and angry. He stormed off, calling: "My father will hear about this!" I snorted: "What a prick..."
