"(Y/n)!" Tanjirou shouts, running up to the girl who was enjoying her break from demon slaying.
(Y/n) smiled at him as he joined her on the bench. She always liked to hear his stories he had to share, and he always had a new one for her.
He sighs. "I can't wait for the day we can all live in peace."
She nods, not wanting to wait for the day it was safe to live freely either.
The two sit in peace in the sunlight, enjoying the calm of the day.
"Hey (Y/n)?" Tanjirou asks.
She turns her head to face him.
"I was wondering what you favorite food is?"
On pure instinct, she lifted her hands to tell him what it was, but he couldn't understand. (Y/n) always spoke in sign language. She wasn't deaf, but preferred speaking this way. Her family knew how to speak it as well but it wasn't common in Japan.
Tanjirou tilted his head, clearly confused. "Is that sign language?" he asked, picking up the hint.
She nodded.
"Oh that's cool!" he chirped, making (Y/n) smile at his innocence. "Well that's okay, I'm sure you like a lot of different food right?"
She nods again.
They both turned their heads forward now, watching a squirrel run across the path, then get spooked by a loud scream.
"AHHH!"
The two turn their heads towards the sound to find Zenitsu running away from the woods.
"Did you guys see that?! There is monster in the woods!" Tanjirou help me! Please Tanjirou!" he screams, grabbing onto his hair as he sprints over to the bench.
He collapses on the ground and grabs a handful of Tanjirou's haori in each of his hands. "Tanjirou please!" he repeats desperately.
Tanjirou turns to (Y/n). "Sorry."
(Y/n) nods, understanding how over dramatic Zenitsu could be.
Tanjirou smiles a bit then stands up, pushing Zenitsu off of him. The two walk over to the woods and Zenitsu stands behind his friend as he shivers.

The koi swam around in circles in the pond as (Y/n) watched them. Her favorite part of the butterfly gardens were always this specific koi pond. She watched the playful fish as she sat on a wooden bench with a small cloth around her shoulders. The chilly sunset air was beginning to set in and it made her shiver. But her day was always warmed by Tanjirou.
"(Y/n)!" he shouts, instantly making her feel warm.
She turns her head to the sound of his voice, smiling upon seeing him running up to her while waving. She waves her hand to him while keeping her other hand on the cloth.
Tanjirou sits on the bench next to her, hiding a small box behind him. He turns his body to her and lifts his hands. How are you?
Her eyes widen, realizing he just asked her a question in sign language.
I'm good! she signs.
Tanjirou smiles, very pleased with himself for learning sign language so quickly. Once he sets his heart on something, he definitely commits to it.
His smile warmed her heart so much. She wasn't sure if he knew about the effect he had on her and her serotonin levels. But his kind heart and soul made him easily lovable to everyone. (Y/n) always loved the way he treated people, so kindly and fairly no matter how they treated him. His smile and bright mood always rubbed off on her like a ripple effect. When he smiled, so did she.
(Y/n) turned her sight to the koi again, blushing slightly. She really wanted to tell him how she felt, but was scared he wouldn't return the same feelings and if he would even understand her.
Tanjirou could smell something was off about her today, but thought it could just be something small. He taps her shoulder to gain her attention. Are you okay? he signs.
Cold. she replies.
He looks at her, noticing that she is shivering. He reaches out his arm and places it on her back, sliding his hand up and down to warm her up. Her face turns pink quickly and she looks at the koi pond again.
She sits in silence as she decides whether or not to tell him that she likes him. Finally deciding that it can't hurt just to confess. She turns to him slowly, immediately grabbing his attention away from the pond. His hand returns to his lap and he looks at her with his full attention.
Tanjirou. she signs, moving her hands to speak. I like you a lot.
He thinks for a minute, then lifts his hands much to (Y/n)'s surprise.
I like you too.
Her eyes widen as she covers her mouth with her hands. Did he really just understand that?
Tanjirou lifts his hands again. Is it alright if I kiss you?
She stuffs her face into her hands, blushing all over. Tanjirou laughs slightly at her reaction, though he was completely serious.
(Y/n)'s blush doesn't fade but she takes her hands off of her face, nodding her head in response.
He smiles. He then takes one of his hands and places it onto her cheek very delicately. As he leans towards her, (Y/n) closes her eyes, awaiting the sensation. Her lips touch his and the pink shade on her face deepens into a red. Tanjirou pulls away to look at her, and a red blush was spread across his face too.
Sliding his finger under her eye once, he removes his hand and grabs the box from behind him. The wind blows past the two again, but it doesn't leave either one feeling cold. The small box is now in between the two in the boys hands. (Y/n) stares at the box with confusion as he opens the lid to reveal her favorite food. How did he know?!
"I hope this is alright," he says audibly.
(Y/n) covers her mouth as she gasps in surprise. She takes her hands away to thank him. This is my favorite! How did you know?
He places the box on her legs and lifts his own hands. I didn't!
The girl throws her hands around him in an embrace. He wraps his arms around her as well, taking in her warmth. She pulls away and places her hands on both sides of his face as she kissed his cheek, making him blush.
She claps her hands together as she faces the pond again.
