Josefina had spent the last 7 months ensuring that the doppelgänger would end up in the hands of Niklaus.
It was fairly easy considering every vampire who learned of her origin begged for a chance to be in her good graces— along with copious amounts of compulsion and threats. Those who knew the power she held quaked in her presence.
Katerina would be arriving tonight– and just in time for Niklaus's birthday celebration.
Josefina made sure to wipe each vampire's memory from seeing her. It was crucial for her identity to stay only within her entrusted circle. The ever so careful brunette remained hidden in the outer parts of town, only travelling inwards to acquire information on the happenings of the doppelgänger and the Mikaelson's.
Though she may have also had a small hand in the birthday celebration that was to be occurring later in the evening. It had been nearly a century since she last looked into those dusty blue eyes.
Everything had to be perfect.
The ritual, which was set to occur in only a few short days, was also being mapped out by Niklaus and Elijah. It seems that her compulsion was aiding a little too well in their relationship. Nonetheless, she was riddled with excitement.
Josefina had cloaked herself from her father, hoping to escape the wrath he may instill upon her if he found out she had caught feelings for Niklaus. She had tediously planned everything, even taking the chance that Elijah would most certainly become romantically inclined to protect the doppelgänger given his past with the previous one.
She had known as well that Trevor— the vampire set to deliver Katerina to Niklaus— was already quite infatuated with her.
Josefina had conspired with a vengeful witch, creating a faux elixir to "protect" Katerina against the death that would come from the ceremony.
However — what Elijah and Trevor wouldn't know, is that the elixir was simply poison and Katerina would die immediately after she drank it, ensuring death would fall upon her quickly. This would unfortunately put a rather large kink in Niklaus's trek to break his curse; he could never know Josefina did this.
The underlying specifics of this plan would cement her fate, but with her whereabouts and plans hidden, her father would simply be happy knowing Niklaus's curse would remain intact.
For now.
It was early morning, before even the birds were awake. After collecting information and ensuring the celebration tonight would be to her standards, she found herself roaming the large garden behind the castle. She smiled to herself warmly at the abundance of roses. This gave hope to Josefina that Rebekah was alive and well and had not been daggered away in a box.
