Adelaide Artemis Hale.

I was walking through my work building of Acailla Shots, the company where my dearly departed father was a big-shot lawyer.

Hence, the name.

He owned the largest Law Firm in the state.

And all of that responsibility was now mine.

Over the last few weeks, I had been learning the simple things about managing my Father's business. But since I was also in school, the state decided it would be best to give me a business partner.

And apparently, My Dad- the dead one, had a deal with my future business partner's Dad, so I was generally excited for how this arrangement would turn out.

I sat down in my office, filing papers. My assistant, Lucy, walked in, "Miss. Acailla?"

I looked up, "Yes?"

She sighed, "Mr. Desmond is here for your one o'clock meeting."

I pressed my lips together, "Send him in for me." Lucy nodded and walked out.

I watched as a tall, light haired man walked in wearing a suit. Something told me he didn't always dress so professionally.

I was surprised to see that he looked just as young as me. Since I only inherited my father's business because he died.

I stood up and met him at the door, "Mr. Desmond, I presume."

He chuckled, "Oh, please. Mr. Desmond is my father. Call me Lucas."

I nodded, "Well, then. Lucas, shall we?" Lucas and I walked back to my desk as he sat across from me. I sighed, "So, I'm aware it's our first meeting. But your father's had previous business with mine, correct?"

Lucas nodded, "Yes, and my father tells me to send you our family's best. I am sorry for your loss, Ms. Acailla."

I pressed my lips together, "Thank you. Your gratitude is very much appreciated." I cleared my throat, opening the file that I had on Lucas, including his business deal. I put myy glasses back on my face and sighed, "So in our emails, you stated that you don't go to school. As in, you'd be working full time?"

Lucas sucked his teeth, "Correct. I know you go to school, and this business deal would ensure us a fifty, fifty partnership on both of our businesses. I can work here in this very building anytime you need it."

I nodded, obviously liking what I was hearing.

I raised an eyebrow, "Forgive me for asking, but how old are you, Mr. Desmond?"

He chuckled, "I was going to ask you the same thing. I just turned eighteen a few months ago. I've been in business under my father's terms for a little over six months. And you?"

I clicked my tongue, "I'm seventeen. I just recently started."

Lucas shrugged, "You started earlier than I did."
I chuckled lightly before grabbing the contract out of the file and my dark blue fuzzy pen out of my holder.

I signed my name and initials on the contract before handing it to Lucas with a smile on my face, "I'd be lying if I said I wasn't looking forward to this partnership."

He uncrossed his arms, taking the paper with an amused expression, "As would I."

I stood up and walked him out, "It was lovely meeting you, Lucas."

Lucas smirked, "Great meeting you too, Adelaide."

After Lucas left, I sat back down at my desk, filing out more papers and doing boring stuff.
