Adelaide Artemis Hale.
The next day, I was in my office at work. The whole morning was a blur for me. I hadn't even noticed that I was wearing a white blazer until Lucy complimented me on it on my way into the building.
I had got a text from Derek that morning, reminding me that there was going to be a full moon that night.
So I assumed that was why my morning was going crazy.
I mostly had control over myself when the moon was full. So I wasn't worried about losing control.
But I was worried about Scott.
Who has been hooking up with Allison behind Chris Argent's back.
I wasn't supposed to know, but I knew everything.
With my glasses, half off my face, I heard my phone ring.
I picked it up, preparing my fake tone with a loud breath. "Adelaide Accailla." I kept it short and simple.
"Ms. Accailla, you have an unscheduled appointment with Christopher Argent for two o clock that you forgot to mention." Lucy- more asked me over the phone.
I furrowed my eyebrows, "Well, I didn't schedule it. But go along and send him in."
I was so unprepared for a moment like that.
Was Chris Argent trying to be a kiss-ass or kill me? I had no idea.
Seconds later, he was pulling the glass door to open in my office.
I stood up and cleared my throat, "What can I do for you?"
Chris tucked his hands in his pockets, "You can stop blowing off your cousin."
I shook my head, "I don't have a cousin. I have a friend who's parents want me dead."
He sighed, "We never wanted you dead, Adelaide. Kate went rogue, and she stopped following the plan. We apologized for that."
I turned to face him, getting annoyed as I placed my hands in front of my face with my eyes wide, "You came to town to lure me in, you planted a woman- who was my Mother, into my childhood, so that you could train me, and turn me to your side. You don't even see it, but you're still currently using your daughter to get me to coe to stupid dinners. What do you expect, Chris, that we can all be one big, happy Frankentstien family?!" I half-yelled.
He examined me carefully, staring deep into my eyes like knew my whole life, "You're hurt. I understand that."
I huffed, "Why did you even need to speak with me?"
Chris looked down, "Kate's funeral is tomorrow. We would just like to inform you that you're more than welcome to come."
I crossed my arms, "Aren't you worried about your daughter's curiosity as to why her friend from school is at her aunt's funeral?"
He cleared his throat, "We can tell her whatever you want. We just..." Chris took a deep breath, "We want you to know that we're still a family."
It's not that I didn't want to go.
I was worried about my reputation. How would it make me look?
"Okay, I can stop by to send my best to Allison." I muttered slightly.
Chris nodded, "Thank you, Adelaide." That was all he said before he walked out.
I swallowed a lump in my throat before deciding to leave for the day.
I cleared out my meetings and watched as I drove away from the large building that I had entered just hours ago.
I couldn't work more than twenty four hours a week regardless, since I still went to school on certain days.
