To say that I'm tired is an understatement.
Getting sleep on a redeye flight is already hard enough, but adding that on top of the situation that just unfolded at the Met—I barely got a blink of rest.
I probably look like a fucking zombie walking into this brunch, but I'm here supporting Leila so that's all that matters.
My white ruffled dress sways as the long sleeves hang off my shoulders.
Eyebags that were previously lining my eyes are covered with thick concealer, while my dark hair flows onto my shoulders.
My brows raise slightly when I enter the historic building.
A beautiful pink cherry blossom tree sits adjacent to the stairs lined with a beautiful assortment of pink flowers.
I head up the grand stairs as my fingers gently glide over the soft flowers.
My eyes land gaze at the white mesh tent draped over the perfectly decorated tables as I make it to the rooftop of the building.
I swiftly grab a mimosa from the waitress passing by with a silver platter.
"Selene!" I make out Leila's voice due to her thick Australian accent.
I turn my head to see Leila in a tight short white dress with her long brunette hair pulled into a slick low ponytail.
"Leila wow this place is beautiful," I compliment as my eyes linger around the semi-packed venue.
My dark eyes glance back to a smiling Leila.
"Thank you—and thank you so much for coming... I know flying back from New York so quickly was challenging," she admits softly.
I wave her off.
"Nonsense—I'll live, besides it was definitely worth the trouble," I assure her.
She shakes her head with a loose smile.
"You're the best Selene," she murmurs happily.
I chuckle, "Yeah-yeah," I flick my hair jokingly.
She playfully shoves my shoulder.
"I'm serious! You have made such a difference in my life and everyone else's... I just hope you understand how important you are," she confesses.
I can't help the grin that breaks out on my face.
"That means a lot Leila," I reply warmly.
Leila giggles.
"Let me stop getting sappy now—how about I introduce you to some people?" she questions with a raised brow.
I nod as I eagerly drink my sweet mimosa.
Leila ends up introducing me to multiple CEOs, business owners, and millionaires in tech.
The rest of the guestlist consisted of other celebrities whom I already knew.
Luckily everyone was insanely sweet and down to earth—well I assume that if they got an invite from Leila then they'd already behave accordingly.
"Seriously Selene we have to have a night out okay? Invite Nera too," Leila reminds me as we walk down the flower-lined stairs.
I chuckle softly, "Yes Lei, I'll text you—how's tomorrow night sound?" I question the brunette.
She nods quickly.
"Sounds perfect," she answers as we walk toward the tall doors.
I smile, "Perfect I'll text you—and I'll see you tomorrow night along with Nera," I inform her.
