" Jin, I taught you better! " His father yelled from the field when he missed the ball his father threw at him..
" Sorry Dad! I'll try harder!!" He said, to which his father responded with a sigh. " You need to upgrade yourself Son. Your younger brother will learn from you, don't forget that!" He took the ball from the ground, ready to throw him again
" He's not even born yet, Dad!"
" But he can hear us, right love?" He looked at his mother, who was watching them playing far away from the field, caressing a hand over her belly. " Jin, you know he just kicked when you said that. Now I'm sure he's listening to us." She giggled.
" Of course! I'm proud of both of my sons. And I want them to be proud of each other too!! Jin Catch!" He threw the ball at him, and this time he dodged it.
" Ah! What happened to you Jin? What did I tell you before the game? Have you forgotten already?"
" You are the role model of your little brother. You've to show the best version of yourself to make him an even better person." His father told him while warming up. And what about him he thought. From the day they had found out they were gonna be blessed by another son, he started to feel like he was a robot. Each and every fucking time his father, or mother will repeat this as a mantra that 'you've to be better for you little brother'
And what was his age like 6, utmost 7? But for them getting prepared for the newborn was as important as planting some veggies.
And his family was not fond of gardening.
He started to feel his parents already started to love his little one more than him. They didn't care what kind of pressure they were putting on him. Even right now as he was seeing them laughing, planning how to welcome their newborn, what color of dress they'd made him wear at 1st. His father already made a customized chain with diamond work on it. Saying it'll be one of those many gifts he'd give to his little son. What would be her face shape, where would they find their birth mark. They were even making bets on that.
They might have forgotten they were not only giving birth to their son, but their other son is getting a brother too. Whom he might love more than him, more than anyone. But only they remembered Jin when it was time for him to prove himself, he was a perfect older brother role model.
Only then did they focus on him.
Did he really matter to their life he thought. Would he be banished from their eyes when his brother would come?
The day his brother came into this world. He was happy, genuinely. His father was shedding happy tears when he held his newborn son. He was laughing, wiggling that tiny flesh of life. His mother smiled a little. "What was the name you've picked for him? We'll go with that. You gave birth to him. You've more rights than me. Jin came to the room with his father to see his little brother. He smiled seeing his face. But his smile faded away when he felt that worst feeling. A feeling that nobody wants to feel in their whole life.
"Really?!" Her mother shed tears of happiness.
Unwelcomed.
"Okay then. My love, my world. You become the brightest sunshine of my life the moment I heard you crying. I love you so much my baby. From now we'll call you Taehyung Kim."
She showered him with kisses, sniffing a little.
A silent twist of jealousy slowly started to form in him. He didn't want to admit it. He hated himself for it, but he couldn't deny it. As a little boy he started to think his brother took all the love and care of their parents, and from now, he wouldn't get the warm feeling called love from his family anymore.
