Location: Konohagakure

Current POV: No one/3rd person

Nezuko pounced at the bleeding girl, mouth drooling and ready to eat after years of nothing, ignoring the girl's screams, when something got caught in her mouth and pulled her back. She could hear someone grunt "Nezuko!" as she was forced backward.

Angry and starving, she scratched all around her in an attempt to get whatever held on to her. They kept saying words, but Nezuko didn't care. She was so close to eating a meal and whatever this is was ruining it!

As an attempt to get it off, she turned over and launched herself into the next floor. However, this thing her persistent, and Nezuko was growing angrier, biting whatever was in her mouth and clawing and kicking everywhere she could.

Nezuko then felt a powerful presence arrive, and she recognized it as the demon she was tormenting before this. She started trying to get free even more, feeling her blood boil in rage from just knowing she was there. Not even 10 seconds later, another powerful presence arrived, bigger than the first time. Nezuko couldn't remember who it was, but he was talking to the thing clinging onto her back and keeping her from snacking.

Suddenly, Nezuko was kicked out of the house. The nerve of that man! Even more irritated, she started thrashing around more, reaching her hand out as she felt her strength returning to her when the thing grabbed that too. Why wouldn't it just leave her alone?

Before Nezuko could react, she heard him groaning out words behind her. Familiar words. Her mother's words. No, her mother's singing. She could hear her mother calling her though she couldn't see her. Her head started to play her favorite lullaby over and over, breaking her heart each time.

Remembering what she was doing and finally recognizing her brother's grunts as he held her back, she felt awful. Nezuko felt horrible knowing she hurt her brother and almost hurt a human,  her family. She hated that feeling.

Before she knew it, her eyes welled up and she burst into tears. She tried to apologize but nothing other than sobs came out. As if reacting to her vulnerability, her body began shrinking so she looked like a little girl again. Nezuko felt tired, so painfully tired. Before she drifted off to sleep, she could see her mother holding her to her chest as she sang the lullaby she loved so much.

When Nezuko shot up. She immediately observed her current location to find out she, once again, ended up in a whole different place. This time, she was in a room that was white all over, including the bed she was in, with a window in the side for light. Her pink kimono were folded in her lap in exchange for what she assumed were hospital clothes.

Nezuko signed as she recalled her dream, or would it be considered a flashback? Whatever it was, it left a heavy feeling in her heart and she hated that. Nezuko missed her family so much and she knew her brother was hurting somewhere because she wasn't careful or strong enough to prevent her death.

Nezuko slapped her cheeks. 'This isn't the time to blame yourself for things you couldn't control!' She told herself. And to think she always told Tanjiro to stop burdening himself with these uncontrollable circumstances. She let out a tired laugh as she thought about his reaction.

Right after, the door opened and she saw an old man in expensive-looking robes along with someone that looked like a doctor or nurse. "Ah, so she's awake. Why don't you tell us your name?" He spoke. Nezuko straightened up unconsciously. 'It's like his aura demands respect.' She thought. "Kamado Nezuko," she spoke. It felt weird after not speaking for over two years but she was glad she can speak regardless.

"Well, Nezuko, do you remember anything?" The old man said. Nezuko contemplated what she could tell him. Not that she wasn't from here, nor that she died in another world. Besides, she just met this man so she couldn't trust him. But her senses were telling her that he was trustworthy.

"I don't remember where I came from," Nezuko started, her hands shaking as she tried to keep her voice steady. She remembers doing that at 8 years old too. "But my family was...." Nezuko paused to swallow that horrible feeling in her throat. "Killed. I have no memories of what happened when it happened, but I remember running away into the woods and I lived there for a while. I was following the river to a safer place and then someone came and knocked me out too. I guess they brought me here." Nezuko finished. She resisted the urge to swallow again.

Unlike her brother, Nezuko knew how to lie greatly but wasn't a fan of it, and swallowing was a sign of nervousness that could give away that she was lying. Well, it's not like she was completely lying. Her family did die but she remembers how it happened. And she was living in the woods, just not for as long as they made it seem like.

The old man studied her carefully. Nezuko felt her hands' grip tighten on her kimono. "Well then, I guess I'll have to get you a place to live." The old man said with a friendly smile that sapped all of Nezuko's nervousness away. 'His aura is amazing.'

Shaking her head, she tuned in and heard him say, "I don't believe there are any apartments available currently. I'm sure I could get a Jonin to make room for you in the meantime." Nezuko frowned. "But I don't want to intrude on someone's personal life." The man looked at her surprised but quickly composed himself and started chuckling. "Quite self-aware, aren't you? Well, until someone gets a house or we build new apartments someone will have to make room." This made Nezuko frown deeper. "They're Shinobi so they aren't home often anyway."

Nezuko, out of habit, tilted her head to the side in confusion. The man took that as a sign to elaborate further. "A Shinobi is someone who fights to protect our village. It only takes 4 years of learning. After you graduate, you'll be able to take jobs that are appropriate for you based on your rank." Fighting? Protecting the village? But from what? Well, not like it matters that much since this was Nezuko's fastest way to a job. Even if it was low-paying, she could manage. She did for 12 years before.

"What are the ranks?" Nezuko asked. She was going to need to know as much as she could before going into this unknown world officially. The old man got this knowing look in his eye before answering, "From lowest to highest, there's Genin, Chunin, Special Jonin, Jonin, and Hokage, which I am currently." The man chuckled at Nezuko's surprised expression. "Some side ranks are ANBU and Sanin. ANBU is a program of elite ninjas that directly serve the Hokage and Sanin is a special title that only the most legendary ninja get. Currently, there are the three legendary sanin, Tsunade the slug princess, Jiraiya the toad sage, and Orochimaru the snake sanin that has unfortunately gone down a dark path." The man said the last part woefully. Nezuko chose not to comment.

"Well, that's enough curiosity for now." He said suddenly. "Get some rest and you'll meet your caretaker tomorrow." Nezuko only nodded as he walked out of the room. The nurse poked her head in. "Push this button if you need me." She said, motioning to the button on the wall and left as fast as she came in. Nezuko only blinked.

This was a lot to take in. Different from her world, if a little advanced as well. Nezuko just lay down and turned to her side, curling out of habit and clutching her kimono as she slowly fell asleep.
