From Me To You: Opposites? (FORTHXPARK) (COMPLETED)

I finally came out of the balcony around 7pm, having wasted my afternoon outside with the beers. I went to take a shower and went to join the boys for dinner. Nobody said anything but everyone noticed the obvious, I avoided Forth and sat with Ming and Yo, near the Medical Princes and chatted with them.

Once we were done with dinner, we all had a little campfire, singing and playing the guitar. We also played cards. It was close to 2am when we finally decided to sleep.

I went to the room, sorely regretting my decision to room with Forth. I changed and sat at the couch, playing my games. Forth came into the room, showered and changed. He looked at me hesitantly and made his way to the door.

"I'm sorry about what I said yesterday Park. I only wanted to get you out of trouble with Suyn but I handled it wrongly. I am sorry. I didn't mean to. I will sleep outside. You can sleep on the bed."

He then made his way out. I watched his retreating back and sighed. I knew he didn't mean it but I thought of all people, he would remember. I watched him go.

I leaned back, my thoughts flitting to my cousin. Unlike me, my cousin was really a goody two shoes who was in one of the top ranking universities in another part of Thailand. He had the same situation whereby his friend had lied about his sexual orientation to get him out of some dating woes. However, in his case, the lies spread and soon he found himself the brunt of all teasing and ragging.
My cousin eventually committed suicide unable to take the teasing. He was like an older brother to me and his death affected me alot. Ever since then, I rather kept quiet or told the truth, never wanting to tell a lie in case it affected someone. Forth's lie brought up the unpleasant memories and it left a bitter aftertaste for me.

I decided to go sleep, hoping the morning will come soon enough. I laid in bed but couldn't sleep at all. I tossed and turned, finally sitting up. I looked at the clock and it was 3am. I sighed. I decided to go look for Forth. I went out and found him on the porch, sitting on the bench.

"Forth. Come in and sleep."

Forth turned to look at me and I cracked a small smile. He stood up and walked over, capturing me in a fierce hug.

"I'm sorry Park. I didn't mean to. I honestly..."

I just silenced him by hugging him back. I rarely did it but I knew he was feeling very very bad about the whole thing. We stayed like that for a few moments and then pulled away. His face was a little red. I just smacked him gently on the face and all was forgiven.

I knew he was just being a good friend. I smiled at him wider. We went into the room to sleep. We laid on the bed, our own thoughts engulfing us.

"He would have been 21 this year right?"

I nodded. Forth turned to look at me. I turned to my side, facing him.

He opened his mouth, "it's fine. Let it go. I'm not upset anymore. I should have just told Suyn the truth from the start. Which I will, tomorrow."

Forth looked at me in silence, I just smiled at him and we just fell asleep, looking at each other.
