I wake up. Was it a dream? I can't tell. My optics hurt. It takes a while as I adjust to the lights... light? On the ceiling?
I get up, scanning my room. It's not my room. Someone at a desk on my left hears me and jumps, swearing before turning around."You're awake? You're awake, dear spark you're awake!
...
Your marks, they don't show. As if they weren't there in the first place-"
"Woah woah woah back off for a second." I say, refusing his physical check up.
"Where the frag am I?"
"I.. can't tell you. Now please, I need to do this check-up-"
"And I need to know who's aft I need to kick. It isn't normal to be drowned without the ability to die from drowning and "shortly" waking up in a random facility. Do I need to kick your tailpipe to figure out where the frag I am??"
"Calm down Sparky."
"Who- Salvo??"
I turn around. It is Salvo. He looks much more professional, and somehow different. Maybe it was the paint job? No, I don't think so. He still was mostly white with blue accents.
"Please, let Paradox look you over."
"How can I trust-"
"You have no choice. We do it easy or hard. Your choice."
"Please close the door."
"Oh, sorry Paradox."
Salvo moves in, allowing the door to close and lock.
"Lie down so that I have an easier time to examine you, please." Paradox complains in a polite manner.
I sigh, laying down. Paradox does a scan of my body. It goes over quickly, and I sit up, staring at Salvo.
"You know what I want." I say, staring at him intently as if he would open up like a chest, spilling all secrets out.
"Yes, you want answers. Please, follow me."
I follow Salvo who leaves the room. The door closes behind me, and we emerge in a long, well lit blue hallway. He stops at the very end, entering a large room, similar to my apartment. We sit at the couch.
"Where am I? Who are you really? And how did you get me here?"
"It is a long story. But what matters is that that black goo that tried to enter you? It's called Miclux. We think that you have some kind of a system different from the other bots that can resist the Miclux."
"The Miclux? Does that explain how there was no one at the sector 413 other than us?"
"No. Miclux cannot do that- because it was I who caused an hallucination."
I blink.
"Excuse me? That makes no sense. Why would it be important that I would be unable to remember anyone being around?"
"Because we were testing out our newest technology. The most probable reason why the Miclux tried to take over you was because you were our testing subject-"
"How dare you test on me without my consent. I trusted you."
"And yet you continue to trust me."
I sit back down. I haven't noticed that I stood up, much less did I notice my clenched servos until I sat back down. I would be so happy if punching him would solve all my problems.
"Fine. Now. So, the Miclux can apparently hide under plain sight, and do mind control?"
"Correct. You were one of its victims. I thought I killed you as I killed the Miclux during the hosting. When Miclux are killed, they usually shrink and leave unrepairable scars, especially in the substructure. You, however, somehow managed to survive, and remember everything. It is a feat; and if we can study you, we can probably end the invasion of the Miclux."
