"Most of the escaped prisoners were taken back into captivity. So the residents can breathe easy again, as there are no more dangerous individuals roaming the streets."
"With everything that has happened in the past few days, I completely forgot that because of the prison break recently, the city was quite unsafe for some time" Justin commented while listening to the news report from the radio. He was in his car, Qiqi next to him in the passenger seat. He had borrowed the child safety seat she was sitting on from the neighbors.
The girl just hummed a reply, not knowing how else to respond.
It had been a few days since the bard had gone off on his own, and right now they were on their way to the grocery store. It was Friday. The last day he was on leave. Justin felt like he was taking way too much time off lately. As soon as he got back to work, his boss would probably make him work overtime to make up for it.
They stopped in the parking lot in front of a grocery store and got out of the car. Qiqi was wearing a jacket that was clearly too big for her over her normal clothes. Not only could Justin not give her something less conspicuous because of her size, but also because the seals that were scattered all over her body posed quite the problem. In the end, he had given her a big jacket to put on and a cap in exchange for her usual hat. She was still quite an eye-catcher, especially because of her eyes and hair color, but it was better than just letting her go like that.
And it wasn't like he could just leave her at home. Well, he could, but the zombie girl refused to leave him alone. And that's why he had taken her with him.
He lifted her into the shopping cart and then rolled her into the grocery store. The little one seemingly quite enthusiastic about this method of transportation. If he interpreted the slight spark in her otherwise dull eyes correctly. Justin, meanwhile, felt like a father taking his child out shopping. He was too young to already be experiencing this. But in the end he was in no position to complain.
And it was quite convenient to have a child with healing powers with him, especially when he was suffering from his headache again.
His gaze slid over the various products and then wandered to the price tags. He took a pack of rice from the shelf, examined it briefly, and then placed it in the shopping cart.
Qiqi eyed the products that were slowly accumulating in the cart. They were colorful and many designs were eye-catching. That was the first thing she noticed about these packages. Everything here was so colorful.
Justin turned to her "Is there anything you want?" he asked.
Qiqi seemed to think for a moment. "Cocogoat milk-" suddenly a surprised voice interrupted her.
"Hey, Justin, is that you?"
Qiqi's voice stopped and Justin lifted his head in surprise. The two of them turned around. Justin's eyes suddenly lit up as he recognized the person in front of him.
"Aaron."
"Hey, long time no see. I thought you were rotted away in your apartment, with how out of touch you were!" said the person laughing.
It was a young man about Justin's age. Chestnut brown hair and gray blue eyes, which lit up in delight. He was trained, his arm muscles, through the simple t-shirt he wore, open to the world to see.
"Nah... i still haven't kicked the bucket" Justin replied with a laugh. He was surprised to find Aaron here but he couldn't help but feel relieved to see a familiar face. Not the face of a fictional character. But a face that calmed his heart for a moment and gave him a sense of normality. It was relieving. He himself was surprised how light he suddenly felt.
