•As he is the first vampire, Vlad has no one to learn from. No Idiot's guide to vampires. The hunger would be the first concern and the second his coffin. Coffins were exceptionally rare in the 1400's and were stone or lead. Alone with a secret spot to which the coffin would be safe.

•At his execution and rebirth, he would have slaughter and gorge himself on all the spilt blood. He would feel the souls of these men that thought they would be free of Kazikli Bey, Sir Impaler and now resided in him. Trapped forever in the body of their most feared enemy.

•He would learn quickly blood is the currency of the soul and would reside in his vampiric body of limbo. He could tap into unknown knowledge from his future kills. It is partly why he became picky about his blood. It serves dual purposes.

• This is how he learned to control his bloodlust too. Blood frenzy feeding brings up too many bodies and doesn't bury the questions of his return. His gypsies now are more important than ever. They considered outcasts and he provided what they needed to survive. Later it bought him unwavering loyalty that not one noble would do.

•A second quickly learned aspect was needing to rest during the daylight hours. Yet he couldn't completely as he never was placed in a coffin at 'death' (according to Hirano we never see what happens next). Vlad had it made as even the sunlight through curtained windows bothered him. With all his senses heightened, it required him to have some way for sensory deprivation. He would have possibly migraines and agitation from light, sounds or smells.

•The Sun doesn't roast him but interferes with his body as he has become nocturnal by nature too. His sleep pattern is completely flipped. Yet the coffin wasn't enough. So Vlad searches for a cure. Being a low level Alchemist in life, he would know about the elements, fire, earth etc.

•Now he returned to the site of his failed execution and ran his pale fingers through the soil. The place was abandoned so it was easy enough to access. He could feel the blood soaked earth full of power and his body begin to quiet down. That is why he rests on soil where he 'died' human and was reborn from blood soaked earth. There is the belief that soil is the womb of the Great Goddess and he became reborn in a gruesome way.

•At first his answer to those who discovered him or his coffin was savage death. But you can't cover up dead high nobles without a lot of questions. So he learned of his way to alter a human's mind. Vlad discovered rather quickly he could hear and read thoughts. The Vampire King was a brilliant tactician and so he began to use his mind to alter people instead of quick to anger and go into a killing spree.

•With this new set of perimeters, he started to weave a tale of how he came to be. He was a little known male heir to the throne of Wallachia, who had slipped detection until now. The acquiring of a castle in Transylvania and growing of wealth to 'buy' less questioning. This includes a demotion of his title from Prince to Count. It could explain why he didn't have a country but a well located area of land, resources, human blood and a castle to center around his actions.

•Then comes the weird sisters. Many consider them brides of Vlad but Bram Stoker never refers to them that. One woman bears some resemblance to Vlad and so thought to be a distant relative. The other two are high born women who fleed being captured and probable gang rape to death. Vladcard would take great pleasure in creating demonic like women who feed and kill human men. The kind who threatened to do unspeakable acts on them.

A little Tete for Tete and pinch of touche as the French would say, was his thinking...

•As for learning his other powers, nature would assist him in that. His animal to call or had a strong pull toward was wolves. He would remove his European judgment on wolves and learn. Vlad perhaps wished he could be one and the first shape shift occurred.

•It's possible he was frustrated a book or parchment was across the room and he slammed his fist down which activated his telekinetic power. He held his large pale hand out and the book came to him.

•But as his powers grew, his control of his strength took longer. One has to relearn everything about applied strength to pass a human when need be. What went from brute force on humans now to become the sadistic game of fooling people until it was too late for them to escape. Though stupid people really occur his wrath.

•The old folklore stories on Strigoi and to a certain point Moroi information. Vlad would then see if the items could really do him harm. This is when blessed silver doing him harm came known. He has at this point created vampire children and he watches how the little irritates to him are deadly to the younger ones. The sins of the father strike his children more.

•He learned the older he got as a vampire, the harder to kill him and his powers grew as if the aging wine. His regeneration would increase immensely as a natural sense of defending death off easier. He would gain enemies along the way besides gypsy loyalty. Not much different from having boyars trying to assassinate him.

•It is also at this point that the concept of too many vampires begins to rear its ugly head. Vlad was hunting his own children long before Hellsing. Culling the head of unworthy and unwanted stupid vampire like the priest in Cheddar.

Strigoi
Strigoi in Romanian mythology are troubled spirits that are said to have risen from the grave. They are attributed with the abilities to transform into an animal, become invisible, and to gain vitality from the blood of their victims.
