~ Handled

I jumped into Honey and peeled out of the parking lot. My head was spinning and hands were shaking, it felt like every nerve in my body was short circuiting. I leaned across the dash and popped open the glove box for my Marlboro Reds and lit a cigarette. Taking a long drag of the smooth nicotine to calm my nerves. Dean was alive, and I didn't know if I wanted him to stay or go. And now he knew my secret, that I am a hunter.  Well, It was never really a secret, I didn't tell him because I didn't hunt anymore. I never blamed him for the Shifter that came to kill me. How could he have known? Bobby promised to never tell a soul.

A bell jingled from above the doorway of the sweet, but dingy looking diner as I walked in. The aroma of coffee, confectioners sugar and old leather tickled my synapse. My stomach seized and my mouth began to water. The hunger sent me bolting to the nearest open table. I hadn't eaten since I left for the Vamp nest yesterday afternoon.

"Hey love, in a hurry?" a sweet voice chirped from over of the counter heading over with a menu and pot of coffee. A red apron cinched around her waist accentuated her slender frame. Her plastic name tag with a faded smiley face sticker in the corner read "Sadey." in red capital letters.

"Starving." I chuckled, "Got any specials?"

"We have a Skillet Scramble with Bacon, Sausage, Bell peppers, onion and cheddar cheese. A Strawberry & Cream stuffed French Toast with," she started, pouring steaming black coffee into my mug. "I'll have that!" I interrupted with an excited smile, "It's my all time favorite."

"Sure hun, how do you like your eggs?" She smiled, clicking her pen and scribbling down my order.

"Over medium with ham." I smiled back, taking a sip of coffee.

"Coming right up." She hummed, clicking her pen again. Walking over to the window and sticking the ticket into the wheel. I took another sip of coffee scanning the diner.  A sweet older couple giggled in a booth by the door, a man dressed to go hunting waited at the register with a to-go bag and pipping thermos. I hoped he wasn't going to Hookland to shoot any buck.

I sat back in the bench and closed my eyes, taking in all the sounds and smells. Meditating, to calm my nerves that were still twitching from this morning's altercation. I was going to meet the Sheriff today and I need a clear head. After about fifteen minutes, I heard the door chim open and my waitress came waltzing down with my breakfast and a grin.

"You here for Hookland?" Sadey asked, looking me up and down. I guess my outfit was pretty convincing for law enforcement, I tried not to grin.

"We can't comment on any ongoing investigations at this time." Sam's voice came behind me. I watched the boys slide into the bench across from me.

"Two Coffees, please." Sam smiled at her.

I was too god damn hungry to pay attention to either of them. I took an eager bite of my french toast and closed my eyes. The delectable taste of sweet cream and fresh bitter sweet of strawberries tasted like heaven. I set down my knife and leaned on my elbow, fork hovering over my mouth ready for another bite.

A warm hand gently covered my mine. I opened my eyes to Dean's silver ringed hand over mine. "I'm so sorry for your loss Frances." he said sincerely in a low voice, I gulped.

I stared at the beaten silver band and after what felt like forever I smiled. I'm grateful for his kindness, even after I clocked him in the face earlier. And kicked him.  He was still patient, even after finding out I'm a hunter too. "Thank you." I said. He squeezed my hand and let go to take a sip of his coffee.

{"oh thank god. I thought you were going to be nice to me this whole time. You were starting to freaking me out." }

"Bobby says you're legit." Sam said, leaning in closer, "been hunting as long as us."  His curiously was so apparent but I couldn't blame him. I had never met anyone who had hunted as long as I have either.

"This is my case."  I said sternly to Dean. Trying to challenge him. I couldn't have him pity me over what happened to James. If we're going to work a case together then I need him to be a sarcastic asshole, it would be easier that way.

"Your case," Dean scoffed with a smart ass smile, "Right, cause Singer assigned you. Listen honey, he even said himself that he and you have never seen this thing before. SO, you could use the back up." he shrugged arrogantly leaning against the table.

I leaned in to mirroring his energy, "And if I say no." his eyes narrowed.

Sam cleared his throat trying to break the petty feud. And it came to me, "On second thought, I think this will be fun." I said, gleaming. It would be very interesting to see how they hunted.

"You have no idea what you are dealing with. This is a whole new kind of gig." I said finishing my breakfast, pausing as Sadey came over to take the boys order. Clearing my plate and refilling my coffee. She's a damn good server.  "Look, this thing is like nothing you or Joh has seen before. It's old and nasty. It seems to only take men. So stay out of The Game park. You got me?"

"And what? You go in by yourself? " Dean's face twisted, "to kill this 'old and nasty' thing."

"This is not my first rodeo." I said sharply.

"You're going to get yourself killed." He growled, nodding his head with every world.

"Then so be it Winchester." I said, coolly. His harsh stare instantly turned curious, then giddy and he sat back with a wink and a smile. Sam sat even more on guard quickly glancing between us. Poor thing has no idea what he is in for these next few days.

My FBI "bat phone" phone started to ring Deputy I Don't Know showed on the Caller ID. I smiled wide and winked at Dean, "Hey Zach what's up? Sorry you didn't get to sleep in." I cooed into the phone. Dean's face dropped and his jaw tensed, Sam started to squirm. Nolan informed me that they found an abandoned vehicle on the edge of Hookland's East entrance and Doc was working on the autopsy as we speak.

I waved my hands at the boys to start eating faster and gulped down the rest of my coffee with the occasional mhmm to indicate I was still listening. He may not have gotten a lot of sleep, seeing that we basically went to sleep the the same time, but he sure had more information. "Alright I'll be there in 10." I said, snapping the phone shut and throwing some bills on the table. Sam and Dean took a few last bites of their meals as I slide out of the booth and shimmed on my jacket on. "Let's go boys." I called to them behind me. Not even giving them a second to catch up. I was out the door and in Honey by the time they got to they stood up from the table.

I could see Dean's frustrated face rounded the hood of  the impala as I pulled out onto the street. Sam was smiling widely. I've never hunted with any one my age or with the same life experience, this could be pretty fun.
