"Hold... still... and don't think I won't see if you cheat !"
Using one of Frisk's notebooks as a ruler, Error marked a straight line on the side of the fridge. "Done !"
Frisk passed under Error's arm to see. Now at least, they had a real idea how tall they were. Taller than one of the chairs in the two's classroom, smaller than Error's fridge itself. This mark would also allow them to test a future theory.
"I'm telling you kid, you're wasting your time. I'm certain you were exactly the same height when I first found you. Errors don't grow up."
You tell Error that he's just afraid you'll end up passing him in height.
"Don't get cocky, even if you could miraculously grow up, being a child and all, that would not affect your power in every way, so you're not gonna get stronger this way." replied their teacher as he opened the door of the fridge to grab a chocolate bar inside. Of course, in the Anti-Void, the machine was completely useless to keep stuff cold, but Error still used it as a food storage, and occasional shelf for other stuff.
It had only been a few days since Frisk's failed attempt to open a portal to another universe, and Error was still dead-on trying to make them stronger through harsh tests, which exasperated the human, who didn't hesitate to give him sass when they didn't feel like it, even if they knew better than to push their luck with Error. In between two fights they'd also spend some time in the classroom where Error would try his best to tell them what he knew, which tended to be a critical disaster due to the skeleton's short memory and very... biased view on things, leading to him often concluding by calling so or so thing trash if it was part of the Multiverse, and good if it could destroy it. Still, they'd calmly listen and take note. The parts Frisk loved more was when Error went on to describe one of his adventures. They were still very self-centered, but he'd talk about his interactions with other outcodes, and even (what they loved above all), open up TV portals to show how the events went. So much color. So much people, even some which looked like them and Error... Frisk didn't really dream but if they did, they were certain it would be about this faraway paradise.
And on even rarer occasions, they'd just sit down in either one's Anti-Void and talk about any unimportant subject, perhaps eat something, like a hotdog or chocolate at the same time. That's how they had gotten in this situation, when Frisk had suggested they had grown taller.
"What ? No you didn't," had said Error when Frisk had tried comparing their size to the one they'd had at first with their hands. "When I found you, you were... this tall.", he had replied, placing a hand near him, at the exact same height as Frisk currently was. "So no, nothing new."
Of course, all of this was somewhat unnecessary escalation, but it was a nice break from the ordinary, this boring and tiring routine. Otherwise, it was the same thing over and over again. Ironically, Error either cared about them enough, or didn't trust them enough to leave them alone in the Anti-Void, and had stopped traveling to the Multiverse and erasing AUs, or if he did, it was only when he was sure they couldn't see it. This might have been the reason why on this very day, as they were chatting about height without a care in the world, something very different occurred.
"Well weⱠⱠ wɆll..." said a voice behind them. Frisk didn't even consider someone else was there, not used to hear the voice of anyone but Error, who froze as he heard these very words, with an expression of worry and annoyance, with a slight hint of panic which really scared Frisk.
"Now I see ฬђץ you've bǝǝn sⓄ busy." continued the voice.
It was raspy, slid and repeated, changed pitches like a damaged record, similar to Error's, perhaps even more, but it also had a slight... class, politeness to it, coupled with a certain coldness. And it didn't sound totally happy. "฿ut really.."
The two turned around, as the glitchiness of the voice soothed.
"What were you thinking, hiding such a thing to your m̨̙͈̰̭͈̣͎͐̿̓ȩ̱̘̺̖̎ṋ̷̬͖͇̤͔̊ͨ͂̆T̗̘͎̬̭͓̻̜̆͝o̬̦̗̅̐͘r̩͖̾͞ ?"
The Error had pale white bones and blue, tear markings, more intertwined than Error. He had a white sweater and cargo pants, under a long and thick navy blue coat, and was quite tall, compared to both Frisk and Error. He seemed to glitch much less than either of the two, and didn't have any Error messages. The white pupils in his blue eyesockets were staring right at Frisk, more than they'd like, while his falsely friendly smile stretched.
"Frisk..." whispered Error as he extended an arm between his student and the newcomer,
"S₮āy beⱧI₦Đ."
