Special Chapter 3

After we finished playing volleyball, we decided to take a rest, while looking at the children playing with the water. They were laughing while splashing the water on one another. I looked at the sky, and soon it would turn dark. I still had time, and I made up my mind to propose to the only woman that I liked, who was sitting beside Lesley on the blanket. 

"I'll change first," I said to her before she nodded in response. Good thing she didn't question more.

"I'll tag along. Wanna change too" said Hayabusa. Ignoring him, I walked to the changing room, only hearing him cursing some words to me. Not that I care at all. It's really up to him what he wants to do.

After I finished changing, I walked to the car, to take the tiny box, where there was a ring with a shiny diamond. Thanks to Lesley, I needed her help to choose the ring for Hanabi. She probably knew I would propose soon, yet I didn't tell the exact date. Once again, it's not necessary to tell her about it. 

As soon as I took the box, I decided to take a final look at it. Slowly, I opened the box, and there was nothing.

Nothing... only an empty box.

WHAT THE FUCK! WHERE IS IT?!

Panicking, I searched through every angle in the car but it failed. I couldn't find the ring anywhere - not in the glove box, cup holder, under the rag, under the seat, or in the hood. 

"What are you doing?"

And it was enough to startle me. Yet I played it cool. It was Hayabusa, standing right behind me with his questioning look. Thank God it was not Hanabi or it would be a problem for me to give an excuse.

"Seems like you're searching for something. Are any of your items lost?" he asked.

He has keen eyes, and I couldn't deny his statement. Besides, I might as well need his help in finding the ring.

"I was about to propose to Hanabi later. But the ring is gone. I was pretty sure I placed it in this box" I said as Hayabusa took the box from my hand. His eyes somehow lit up with the news, probably glad that I was finally going to propose to her, yet it turned concerned.

"It is pretty secure. No way it could just slip from this box. Unless someone took it," he said while playing with the box in his hand, closed it and opened it before he returned it back to me.

"Yeah, but who? I couldn't think of anyone doing it" I said.

We went to the beach only using two cars - mine and Hayabusa's. In my car, there were only five people, Hanabi, Hanaki, Lesley and Gusion. Meanwhile, in Hayabusa's, there were him, Kagura, Haruka, Claude and Dexter. There was no way someone from Hayabusa's car took it, I don't recall if anyone entered the car.

"Yo, what's up? Look like you two got a shady talking ever there, whispering like that,”, said Claude as he suddenly hung onto Hayabusa and me. Dexter was sitting on his head.

"I lost the ring," I said. Claude raised his eyebrow.

"What ring?"

"I was about to propose to Hanabi, and the ring was lost somewhere. Have you seen it, by any chance?" I said again.

"YOU WANT TO PROPOSE AND YOU DIDN'T TELL ME? THAT'S MEAN!" Claude bursted. This brat, shouting at my ear like that — I feel like pinning him down and giving him a beating for almost making me deaf.

"Shut the fuck up, moron! They might hear!" Hayabusa said as he smacked Claude's head. He was wincing in pain. Served him right. 

"I haven't seen a ring, have you, Dexter?" he said, rubbing his head as he looked up at Dexter. Dexter vigorously shakes its head. I can't help but narrow my eyes on that creature. I don't know, but I felt off about that monkey.
