The plane of euthymia. A representation of Ei's mind. Only the ones closest to her can affect the skies of the domain.
Ever since that day, the skies had been gray. It wasn't as dark as night, it wasn't as bright as day, it was gray.

Ei is emotionless.

Ei has nothing to live for.

She's locked herself up ever since their death.

She could've stopped Makoto. She could've been there for Kitsune Saiguu. But she didn't.

Inazuma has been at an unruled time. People don't know of Ei's existence. They think that their beloved electro archon was long gone.

Ei didn't desire to rule over Inazuma. She just wanted to disappear. The plane of eutheymia acted as some sort of purgatory, she couldn't bear looking at the people of Inazuma after leaving them to fend for themselves.

She had no desire to leave her inner mindscape. But one day, one faithful day. On the day Kitsune Saiguu was buried, Ei left the plane of eutheymia.

She needed to have a final apology.

Ei arrived a couple of hours after the official burial, she didn't want anyone to see her.

Kitsune Saiguu was buried near her shrine house. She was face to face with her friend's grave.

The feeling she endured during Makoto's secret burial returned. Her face was covered in running mascara, and  drips of tears started to appear on her clothes. After a few minutes, her clothes started to get wetter and wetter.

It was raining. Ei quickly placed a part of her clothing on Kitsune Saiguu's grave and went to the patio of the shrine house.

Ei sat on the first few steps, melancholically staring at Saiguu's grave.

After a close observation, Ei noticed a fox walking through the muddy graveyard. It stopped at Saiguu's grave.

It offered a flower. It then sat and stared for a while.

Ei observed the fox.

It had the most gorgeous pink fur, a Sakura pattern on the top of its forehead, and a white nose.

Ei was so allured by this mysterious fox. She knew It was a Kitsune.

She hurriedly grabbed the fox into her arms and fled into the shrine house. Ei found a towel and gently dried the fox. She cleaned her paws, her tails, and her white button nose.

Ei noticed how gloomy the fox looked, its ears and tails were droopy.

Ei knew it must've been one of Kitsune Saiguu's mentees. The fox sat on her lap as she sat on the edge of Saiguu's bed.

She then took the towel she used to dry the fox and placed it beside her, she then placed the fox on it.

Ei didn't know what to do at the moment. The fox probably hated her for leaving its mentor to protect Inazuma by herself.

She expected the fox to bite her, leave her, and shun her, but no. The fox sat next to her, longingly staring into the distance.

After a couple of minutes of staring, Ei found her eyes drifting into slumber. After what felt like a few short minutes she woke up to a woman lying against her shoulder.

She had pink hair just like the fox, her ears were dropping as well. Ei didn't expect the Kitsune to reveal her human form to her, she was a mentee of Kitsune Saiguu after all.

After awkwardly staring at the Kitsune, she spoke.

"Thank you"
"For what?" Ei said in a soft, confused tone. She was shocked that the Kitsune spoke to her.

Her voice was soft and mournful, she loved it.

"For covering Guuji Saiguu's grave, she hated the rain," the Kitsune said letting out a small chuckle at the end of her sentence.

"She did, she did hate the rain," Ei said softly chuckling as well.

The kitsune's ears lit up, causing her to blush in embarrassment.

She stared at Ei as she laughed. Ei didn't notice her look of bliss until after her small laugh.

"I'm glad that Guuji Saiguu had a friend like you," the Kitsune said just before kissing Ei on the cheek and leaving the shrine house shortly after.

Ei was speechless. She pondered about that little interaction until she got back to Makoto's palace.

She couldn't believe that a Kitsune of Saiguu's appreciated her. She could've sworn all of her mentees would resent her for what she has done.

Her mind was a mess, she needed to meditate.

Upon entering the plane of eutheymia, Ei had that realization.

The skies of the domain were bright pink, the same shade as that kitsune's fur.

That was the moment Ei realized that Inazuma was worth ruling.

That little fox managed to brighten up the skies of her mind with just a few simple words.

Ei knew that ruling Inazuma would mean protecting Inazuma from the harsh monsters that killed Kitsune Saiguu.

Ruling Inazuma meant continuing what Makoto started all those years ago.

Ruling Inazuma would be a chance for Ei to protect its citizens from the hardships she has faced.

It would mean letting people, like that Kitsune, no longer feel the pain of loss and grief.

That was the moment Ei realized why Makoto fought for Inazuma to shine eternally.

Ei no longer felt emotionless.

Ei finally had something to live for, something to continue.

And to think that all of this was because of that little fox, that sly yet sweet Kitsune.
