izzy took in a deep sigh as she tied her long blonde hair in a low bun by the nape of her neck, pulling out strands to make it looser. she glanced over at her brother and jaden who were carrying the cooler. calum making a fuss about how he could carry it himself but every time jaden loosed her grip he would stumble over like an idiot. a light breeze passed through the sea air as the group approach the beach. the sunset was already upon them, and even from the parking lot, you could see the teenagers already gathered around a pile of wood soon to be lit.she was content with walking alone ahead of the group when she found a presence by her side. which only made her smile, much more happy than content. matt smiled up at her in return, his hair that had grown out a bit causing a slight middle part, blew softly in the wind. his cheek had turned sunkissed over the days spent in the sun, and he was wearing a white zip-up just for izzy. matt would make sure to wear that specific jacket whenever izzy wasn't wearing one so that when night came and it got chilly he could give her his jacket. izzy knew that of course, the white zip-up might as well have been hers at this point and the truth is she was going to wear a hoodie tonight but when she saw matt in her zip-up, it was suddenly 'too hot'. the funniest thing of all was that the other one didn't know that they both knew, they thought it was an individual secret token of affection that the other had no idea of.
"oh your necklace," matt spoke softly.
"what?" she looked down confused.
he moved closer, "its backward hold on" matt grabbed the necklace, twisting it around to that it was facing the right way. izzy found herself blushing at how unnecessarily close he was, their faces so close to the point where all she had to do was shift the slightest bit and her lips would graze his. she wanted to, she really did but something stopped her. this deep foggy feeling in her chest that made her heart hurt, fear.
as soon as her necklace was in the correct position she stepped back, fearful of what she might do if she was this close to him for a second longer. izzy saw the way that matts face faltered for the smallest moment before he went back to walking beside her.
they neared the bonfire and the group split, going to mingle with the other teenagers. matt noticed when izzy had left his side to walk with her brothers. he had this irresistible urge to follow her like a lost puppy but he stopped himself.
izzy walked in between calum and jameson, awkwardly watching as they greeted random people. her face lit up however when she saw miles standing alone.
"hi" she greeted him.
"hey," he responded, hugging her quickly.
the blonde stared up at him, his wild brown curls being blown by the wind with the bandana he had tied around his head doing its best to keep it out of his face. his dark green eyes made direct eye contact with her, making her very nervous.
"how long have you been here?" she asked, trying to make conversation. even if she felt a little awkward as whenever he was around she suddenly got very nervous and it got hard to talk.
"not too long," miles shrugged, "i kinda lost track of all of my friends as soon as we got here."
"aw well it's a good thing im here then" izzy remarked.
he laughed, "yes a beautiful girl has come to save me finally."
"finally?" she questioned, "were you waiting for another beautiful girl to save you earlier?"
"no, none prettier than you for sure" miles complimented.
izzy felt a warm blush fill her cheeks at the statement, "thank you," she muttered nervously, suddenly feeling very flustered. he scanned her up and down, admiring her in a way that made izzy feel small under his suffocating gaze.
