The Climb

It had been years since I'd planted that bean. I traded it for our old cow, Milky. Mother thought I was so foolish. When that beanstalk grew, it felt so good to finally be right.

Climbing up the stalk for the first time was terrifying. As I got higher, the wind got stronger and I began swaying. I made a mistake. I looked down. But I had made it too high to climb back down, and that time, I could not chicken out. This was my time to prove myself.

When I made it to the top, it was just a dead end. I was confused. I started to climb back down, disappointed. I was just how Mother said I was. I looked back up and I realized it wasn't a dead end. I saw a golden vase, practically levitating. I climbed back up and touched it. There was a ground. Invisible. The ground was made of the clouds! I stepped onto it.

I walked until I saw an old man wearing golden armor.

"Where am I?" I asked him.

"Why, you're in the sky!" he replied. "The sky is a magical place!"

Little did I know that the man was quite right. "I'm the king of this land. You can call me Midas," King Midas said.

"Jack," I replied.

"If you ever need any help, please, stop by my palace. It is made of gold. You can't miss it,"

I thanked Midas and moved along. I had to keep exploring! I passed a forest. Yes trees can grow on clouds. Take it from me. I also passed Midas' palace. He must be very rich. Mother would love if I could bring back some riches! I planned on stopping by later. I had to have walked a mile by the time I heard a rumbling. A thunderstorm?
