It is already midnight and my eyeballs feel heavy for my head to contain. I can barely keep my eyes open, but I have to finish it before school, later today.
How you take care of me.
It was that time of the year again. I might have been new to Epic high, but I know about the annual camping trip hosted by the Crestwells.
Quick author's note- The Crestwells are a crazy rich family in my writing universe. They appear in most of my stories. Mostly when I want to talk about riches. I'll talk about them at the end of the book.
Everyone was excited. It was only two days left and I had already prepared for the trip. I kept wishing for us to be in the same group during the whole trip. I mean who doesn't want to be with their soulmate during a trip?
And surprisingly, not only were we in the same group, we somehow were in the same room too during the camping, along with Susan and Blake. Wasn't it crazy? Like even god agreed with our relationship. Lol.
Not really Karen. I was the head of the team organizing the trip, and I edited the list to have four of us in the same group. At first, I wanted it to be just us two, but then I realized it'll be weird and she'll probably be uncomfortable, so I added Susan and Blake.
Maybe I should tell her about this.
Even though it was a little bit overwhelming, I was extremely excited to be living with you in the same house. The thought of waking up with you in the room next to mine gave me great pleasure. I was especially eager to stare at you while you do all the work I was supposed to do.
But things didn't go quite the way I expected. Where we were going was cold. And despite all the sweaters and hoodies I came along with, I still caught a cold and I couldn't go out with the group for the sightseeing.
The night of the day we arrived at our destination, she became very ill that she couldn't walk at all.
I was disappointed in myself. I felt embarrassed that you saw me in that situation, completely useless.
And unfortunately, the nurse that was supposed to be on the trip with us missed the flight and refused to take another. She claimed the school don't pay her enough for her to risk her life and get on a plane. She was scared of getting onto a plane.
There was no doctor to treat me, and all I did was just lie down, wrapped in my blanket all day. My memory throughout the trip is a little fuzzy and I can't remember much of what happened.
All I can remember was how you'd carry me closer to the fireplace so that I could get warm. And oh, the hot chocolate you made for me. I really loved it.
I didn't forget the trip, because it is the closest I'd ever been to her. I remember correctly that she demanded I sang for her while she lay on my shoulder. I managed to keep my composure at that moment and not do anything stupid.
You missed out on the real reason we came on the trip just so that you could stay and take care of me.
Cole, if it ever happened that we are talking to each other again, I wish you would tell me the stories of when we were on that trip. And maybe make me the hot chocolate again.
She ended the note with a smiley emoji.
My heart skipped a beat as I read the last paragraph. I can't believe what I am seeing. I had thought she will be mad at me because of the way I ended things. But she isn't, she still believes we could make things work.
No, I'm probably overthinking this and she only meant as a friend. But what if she meant to rekindle our relationship? What if that's what she wants and I mess things up again?
The memory of my last moments with her flashed in my head again. Her hair was tied back in a ponytail, and she had her favorite brown T-shirt and blue jeans on. Her sapphire-blue eyes, which use to be filled with joy and happiness, were filled with tears. She stared at me with sadness in her eyes. I wish I could take back time and change that moment.
End of chapter.
