               Chapter Eleven

Pierre was still descending the staircase and it seemed the more he went down, the more the steps increased.

"Underground cave huh, these stairs won't stop me. I'll definitely get there", soliloquized.

He looked up behind him for a second time. Since he began descending the staircase, he had always felt someone was following him, and this time he knew who it was. The witch of the old woman he had knocked unconscious hours ago was now a few steps behind him, looking uglier and scarier than ever.

Her eyes shone fully this time, and she was coming at him at a speed that did not match with her crooked old body.

     "Run Pierre Frances, run."

Once again he listened to the voice and took to his heels. As he run, he felt cold hands pressed to the back of his shirt and before he realised it, he was rolling down the never ending staircase. The witch had pushed him.

He thought he was going to keep falling forever, until he landed head - first on a cold floor.

     "Ouch." he groaned loudly.

Opening his eyes to look around where his fall had landed him, a bright golden light blocked his vision and he lifted his hands to shield his eyes.

An unknown force unusually drew him to the light and he found himself beginning to crawl towards it.

     "Yes, keep going, keep going..."

"Noooo!" he heard her scream again. This time around he turned. He almost jumped at what he saw. The woman was just an inch behind him, her arms outstretched in am attempt to grab him. But there was something strange happening. He expected the woman to reach him from where he was standing, but she could not touch him. After several futile attempts, she threw her hands in the air, screaming in a tight fit. It seemed there was something separating them - something that hindered physical contact.

"This is your chance, now go!"

Suddenly, he stared to run, not minding the parts of his body that ached from the fall. He run, like his life depended on it. He run, like he knew where he was going.

                *************

Back in Slashers, two women were sitting on the front steps of the Marco's residence. One had brown hair and the younger's hair was auburn.

"So", the older woman spoke, "How are you feeling? You know it's your first time, right?"

"Yes. I feel dizzy and heavy at times but like you said, it's all normal. For now, I'm good. I'm only worried about the baby's father."

Janette placed a hand on Susan's shoulder and told her, "Susan, Pierre's going to come back. I know he will. So don't worry too much. It's not good for the baby."

Susan's memory suddenly drifted back to when Janette had made that weird entrance.

                 FLASHBACK                         (After Janette's entrance)

......" Janette Marco," he breathed at last.

     "Janette", Susan repeated.

"Yes, it's me. I said, what is there to find out now? Has someone else been killed?"

Reading the look of shock, surprise, fear and anger written on Pierre's face, she laughed again, louder this time. Moving forward, she addressed Pierre.
