Dr Grey
Another death in the ER, one that could have been prevented. People are calling the families of patients who can't call them for themselves. We have a couple of DNR patients arrive tonight. End stage cancer patients who chose to stop all curative care. Raymond Steele is one of them. His daughter is on her way from a meeting in Portland. She demanded he come in to the hospital so we can make his last moments less painful. I have seen them a few times, but this time is the last time. I saw it in his eyes and he gave me a message to tell his daughter if he dies before she arrives. She is flying back from Portland and will arrive by helicopter.

I land and I hop out of the helicopter and run to the waiting car, my second takes care of getting the helicopter back in her bay. Wanda two is in good hands. Wanda one awaits me the guy driving her asks me am I for real? I hop in the seat by him and tell yes and we need to floor it. My bodyguards are behind us in a new SUV, dad's idea. The deal fell through because the man wanted dad there and not some 18 year old wet behind the ears little girl to play big shot CEO in his stead. I told him well good luck on that, I walked out of the meeting and told him see you when I purchase it for a quarter of my offer at auction. I took my big check with me and they are left looking at the table I grabbed the paperwork for the sale of their company to me. Dad warned me they might do this, but I had high hopes. I got the call on my way to the helipad that dad is in the ER. So I fly to Seattle and I call for a spot to land and I get cleared to land close to the hospital. The driver and bodyguards will be waiting for us and they were. I finally get to the hospital and the driver laughs as he drives Wanda 1 to the parking lot. She needs a lot of things but she doesn't look like she can move when it counts. I find the desk person and three calls on her cells and checking her screen and answering five others questions behind the desk and she finally asks if she can help me. I congratulate her on her multitasking skills and she misses the sarcasm. I ask where Raymond Steele is being treated. She finally puts down her cell phone and keys something in a voila a room number.

I am ready, but I want to have Anastasia here and I know her schedule is tight. But not so tight she won't be here for me. My messages tell me she is close by. Dr Grey gave me something to make me comfortable. She knows this is my last time in this lifetime to be here in this hospital. A big DNR is on my chart and below my room number. The cancer is finally taking me from my only child. She is being left all alone and to run my company, well hers now. The day she turned 18 and could sign contracts she became CEO of Steele International. Three years ago she made me go to the doctor and they found cancer. She has been by my side and made sure she got her high school diploma by testing out everything she could to get it early. Then between getting me to doctors and to meetings she took college business courses on line and got her business degree in two years.

Dad is in deep thought when I arrive in his room. The nurse comes in and offers him some water and he finally sees me. He looks sad. I go hug him and he smiles. He asks me how it went in Portland and I tell him they wanted him there not some wet behind the ears female. I know he is not going to leave here alive. We talk about how to deal with guys like the guy in Portland. Dad has an idea to put someone in as a puppet that I send in with the deal and I just come in and sign the documents to complete the deals. Make it seem like they are the ones that are purchasing their companies when it is actually me. He won't have any real power, he will have me by him. Advising him on each deal. I will be there to advise him on everything. We will have a male assistant to assure of changes and one to take notes.

I have Anastasia get my things so I can give her my lucky silver dollar. I was given it by a dying soldier in the middle of a battle. It is in an acrylic case it's case has been replaced several times. The coin is mint condition and I hope it stays that way. I tell Anastasia I change the case and where the cases are. I tell her it brings good luck. I think she is skeptical about, but says nothing as I give it to her. I start coughing and having breathing problems. Even with the oxygen mask.

I watch as my dad struggles to tell me everything he wants to tell me. I know it won't be long now and his pain will be over. Dr Grey comes in to check on him as I had fell asleep and I hear her waking me up. She has just called time of death and I missed his last breath.
Dr Grey
Anastasia he just now left us, you were here when he needed you most. That's what counts the most. Asleep or not he knew you were here for him. She hugs him and kisses his forehead. I know she has a lot on her plate now. She calls the funeral home and let's them know that they will need to be ready to cremate her father's body. I sign the paperwork to get everything for the death certificate and the release for the body.
