Hihi! I am so glad you are still reading this story. I was almost worried that the first part was trash or way too long so, yeah. I hope you enjoy the next part and keep reading!
I walked the hallways, completely lost.
I have no idea where Mrs. Karlie's science class is. Ari realized.
The hallways were slowly emptying. All the teens were heading to classes taht they clearly knew the locations of.
And Teagan already was in her class. I may or may not have been the clever person who found it, but where is the clever part of me now, when I need it?
Her class, ELA in 602 was close to our lockers, but my class Science in 805, no such luck, it was probably in the sophomore wing.
I really wanted to scream right now, but I didn't because I didn't want teachers rushing out of their classes thinking I was dying because taht is what my scream would probably sound like.
DDRRRIINNNNNNNG!
Nooooooo! I hate being late, too. It's the worst, I usually am though.
I frantically speed walk through the hallway (who am I kidding, I'm running) checking the numbers by the doors.
617, Nope!
654, Nope!
I rounded a corner and found myself in the 700s, maybe I was getting closer.
722, Nope!
SLAM!
I ran into a girl and spilled all of my stuff. My binder must have been broken too, because it came unclasped way too easily. My notebook paper came spilling out and floated down on top of me and the other girl.
Speaking of this other girl, it was an old friend, Jaida Jones.
Her outfits usually made her seem unsecure, but this year, something was different. Not just her outfit; 3/4 length black leggings and a purple tank top, or her hairstyle; a headband holding back her light brown hair, nor was it the theme she had used for her supplies which were now scattered on the floor alongside mine.
It must have been the way she held herself and the way she spoke, like a mysterious girl who you just had to know better.
"Hey Jaida! Knew I'd run into you sooner or later, but I didn't think it would happen so literally!
I laughed at my own joke, but she only smiles and said, "Yeah, everyone calls me Jade now, but I can help you if you are lost." she raised an eyebrow like she knew I was totally lost.
"I know my way around her quite well, since my sister started coming here last year and I tagged along for the tour!"
I could've sworn she said this with a smug grin, but I was a bit busy trying to gather up my lined papers. "Oh, Cool. Do you know where 805 is?"
"Yes! I am in that class right now, lucky for you. I went out on a bathroom break but now I have a good reason for overextending those 5 minutes!" Jaida- Jade said grinning at me.
"Wow, I didn't even realize I've been lost for 5 minutes," I said, "Glad I have a job in this life, I can see my title now!" I Spread my hands and gazed off in the distance like I was seeing the future, "'Lost Girl' or maybe even 'The excuse for tardiness'!"
Jade looked at me like I was crazy, maybe I was though.
Crazy Fun!
"Ok, let's go now before you embarrass yourself more." she said bluntly. RUUUDE! she hadn't even helped me pick up my mess of papers before we got up and started walking to class (in the right direction this time). She just stood there tapping her foot like I was some random kindergartener she was forced to help and now she was running out of patience.
We walked back the way I came a bit and took a hallway that I missed seeing when I was in such a hurry. Come to think of it though, I had passed a bathroom somewhere before that turn, but that wasn't where Jade had come from at all.
I wonder where she really was during her 'bathroom break'.
Honestly, I was surprised that the teachers even let her out of class during the first ten minutes, weren't the first and last ten minutes of class the most important or something?
Jade opened the door to our class and the teacher immediately noticed us come in.
"Mrs. Karlie!" Jade exclaimed in the most fake voice I had ever heard spoken to a teacher, "I am so, so, so very sorry that I am back from the bathroom late! I found poor Arianna wandering the halls, then she clumsily dropped all of her stuff and we had to pick it up, her paper went everywhere!"
What? That wasn't what happened at all? Why was Jade lying? And even if most of what she did say was true, why did it sound so... wrong?
"I-" I tried to tell Mrs. Karlie how untrue that was when Jade side-stepped right into me and directly on my toes.
Jade turned to look at me with surprise, "Oh sorry, Arianna! I guess I am the clumsy one! Are you OK?"
Liar
Jade knew I was there, there's no way that she hadn't seen me. I was pretty mad at this point. I was already 12 minutes late to class; we were interruption other kids' learning and Jade was lying so I did the first thing that came to my mind.
"Oh, its ok," I said channeling my best passive aggressive tone, "I'm sure that you couldn't have possibly seen me standing right next to you even though we only walked in less than a minute ago." I even made a face, and a pretty pout, but Mrs. Karlie's stare was intensely on me now.
I could almost tell what words were going to come out of her mouth next; 'I don't like your attitude, Arianna, Jade helped you to class when you couldn't be here on time on your own!'
But before Mrs. Karlie could say any of that, Jade stared whining; "I really am sorry! Sometimes this thing happens where I lose my balance and I just didn't have time to tell you before I knocked into you. I didn't mean to, really!"
Su-ure, I mentally dragged out the word.
The entire class was staring at the scene we were making, but I didn't care.
Mrs. Karlie took one more look at us before shooing us to our seats.
Since I was late, I had to sit in the only seat left available, next to a kid named Jack.
He was nice as far as I could tell, and ridiculously cute. He was just the right combination of tan, and muscular, and lean all at the same time, with light brown hair that wasn't plastered to his forehead like most of the other guys in our grade.
I looked across the room at where Jade had taken her seat next to Brylie in the third row. she was looking back at me with anger and something else:
Revenge.
Maybe we were both embarrassed by what happened and no doubt everyone thought that I was a passive aggressive jerk, but in her head, I must have been the villain.
The one who made her look bad.
She was out to get back at me now, and no one would notice that she was the real monster and liar.
