Apocalypse

I woke up in the hospital bed. My sister was sitting there next to me, still asleep. I didn't want to wake her up, so I got up and went to the bathroom. The hospital was almost empty.
When I got back, I caught my sister packing my stuff. I glanced over and decided to help her.

"You finally woke up", she said, finally, after uncomfortable silence.

"Mhmm." I replied not even looking at her.

"You know", she looked at me once again "you've been fainted a lot in the past few days..."

"I know."

"Leon, look at me." I finally stopped packing and looked at her. "What is going on? Dod they...catch you?" She looked at me worriedly. I knew I couldn't tell her the truth, but I couldn't really lie either.

"Listen, Maze, I...It's been really hard. We've both lost our parents, friends, everyone. I just..." I teared up a little. Maze came over and hugged me tight. "I don't think I can do this anymore." We were both crying at this point.

"I know, Leon." She pulled away. "But we have to. Just a little bit more. People are on their way to rescue us. Please, do it for me." I couldn't stand anymore, so i sat down.

"I'm gonna get the vehicle ready. You go and change alright?" I nodded. I got up and went to change.

As I was taking off my shirt I felt something on my neck. I rushed to the bathroom. Fuck. Fuck! FUCK!

And there it was. I knew they caught me. They did a long time ago. But it was spreading. No, I couldn't let Maze see me like this. She can't see me become a horrendous monster like our parents have. Those nasty big snake-like creatures. There's no way in hell.

I rushed outside. Maze wasn't there so i just guess she was already in the van. Good, I thought. But when I realized she wasn't there, the panic set in.

It took me about twenty minutes to realize that she never even left the hospital. She was caught. Right there at the reception. And I didn't even realize it. I could've save da her, but I didn't. That was it. The moment I knew I have lost everyone. Maze, mom and dad, Jesse...Everyone was gone. And all of this because some stupid scientists wanted to make us live forever. They created this stupid ass apocalypse.

Well, if there's literally nobody else, then why am I still here? Surely it isn't fair. I went back to the van and took out my gun. I put it against my forehead and close my eyes. And then the sound.

But it wasn't the gun. I still haven't pulled the trigger. I turned around and saw a helicopter. It must be those people that Maze mentioned.
I put the gun down. I ran and picked all my stuff and went to the helicopter, which had just landed. I greeted everyone and sat inside. We were going to meet other survivors. We were going ti meet those people.

It is, after all, their fault. They did this to all people I have ever loved. They did this to Maze. And now, they all shall pay...
