Ben POV

While we were still discussing our evasive plan, a loud click came from the loudspeaker, indicating the captain was about to deliver a message.

"Hello, passengers!  I hope you have had a great time on the Emperor of the Seas, but if you are departing in San Francisco, your time will soon be over.  Make sure to start packing your belongings, because we will arrive in the harbor at about 2:00 pm.  Thanks!"

"Alright guys, all of the villains probably think we're heading back to Washington, so we're gonna trick them by heading to San Francisco." Zoe deduced just as the captain had finished speaking.

"That's a smart move, Zoe," Mike complimented, smiling coyly.

Zoe blushed but concealed her cheeks with her hands. Mike grinned, already knowing that Zoe was on the hook with him.  Their relationship was wild.  They bonded over fonts.  Yes, fonts.  The ones you write with.  They bonded over those!  Nevertheless, they were getting closer and closer.

"Mike," I hissed while Erica and Zoe were discussing plans, "don't you like Trixie?"

"Umm..." Mike went blank.

"You forgot about her?" I stared wide-eyed at him.

"I-I think th-that,"  Mike was stumbling over his words, and when I looked at him, tears were slowly flowing down his cheeks.

"Mike, I'm-" I began.

"I can't believe I forgot about Trixie!" Mike was bawling on the couch.

I looked over to Erica and Zoe, who looked back at me like , "Is he okay?  Should I call my psychologist?"  I gave them a weak shrug, and came to Mike's side.

"Who in the world is Trixie?" Zoe asked curiously.

"That's classified information," Erica replied coldly.

"Okay!" Zoe put her hands up in mock surrender.

"I'll tell you about it later," I whispered into Zoe's ear.

"No you won't, Ben." Erica rolled her eyes.

I kind of forgot that Erica had a keen sense of hearing, similar to the rest of her senses.  She could smell fear, literally. Hearing my whisper was like a walk on the street for Erica.

"Mike, um, you okay?" Zoe knelt down beside him and patted his shoulder sympathetically.

"Y-yeah," Mike stammered.

I was starting to get worried.  When I had first come to spy school, Mike had misinterpreted some false information, and thought I was dating Erica.  Fortunately, no one has brought that up for a while.  Mike loved Trixie the moment he met her for the first time, and he still does now.  But not seeing Trixie for weeks seemed to take it's toll on Mike.  He was broken.

"Do you wanna call Trixie?" I asked holding out my tracking free phone Catherine had given me to say sorry about using me as bait.  I had accepted her apology without any hesitation, and I was elated to have a special phone like the real spies.

"Please," Mike begged.

"Alright, here," I unlocked the phone and dialed Trixie on FaceTime.  She picked up on the first ring.

"Hey Cuti- Woah, what happened to you Mike?" Trixie was taken aback by Mike's current condition.

I looked over at Zoe, who was fuming in anger and jealousy.  I could smell the smoke.  I gave her a reassuring smile.

"Mike's girlfriend," I mouthed, deciding there would not be a point in hiding the fact to Zoe forever.

This made Zoe even angrier. She stormed up the stairs and into her room, before slamming the door and locking it.  Mike headed up with my phone in his right hand, talking on and on about what she'd missed in the time they were separated.

This left me and Erica alone on the first floor.

"We can't have this drama," I said, sitting down.

"Agreed.  Mike is desperately looking for a relationship.  He's just blind, I guess, to all the girls who are the closest of friends, that like him," Erica sat down beside me.

"What are we gonna do?" I sighed deeply.

"Look," she kissed me, "as long as we're together, and we have our friends, we'll be fine."

I wrapped around her shoulder and pulled her in as close as possible.  "I don't want to be the one who dies on this mission.  I don't want to be the one killing all of my friends.  I don't want to risk your-"

Erica kissed me again, more passionately this time. She placed her hand on my neck. We stayed like that for a while, until she pulled away.

"Sometimes, Ben, you just gotta shut up," Erica smiled and rested her head on my shoulders.

"Yes, ma'am," I replied, resting my head on hers.

"We are going to be fine, as long as you stay with me."

I closed my eyes, needing the rest Erica had reminded me of having.  I had a big day ahead.
