"Hey~!" I heard Sean sing. "Do you mind if I sit here?" He pointed to the space beside me and proceeded to sit down before I gave him an answer. "Whatchya eating? I've got this thing my dad made up called beefaroni, it's cheese macaroni stuffed with beef. Do you want to try a bite?"
"Hey, Sean," I said. "I've just got a pb/j sandwich. How was class?" I took a bite out of my sandwich to let him speak—as if he wouldn't just let himself begin talking anyway.
"It was kinda boring," he said. "Mostly just equations and there was a test on squares and powers and stuff but it was pretty easy. What about you?" He continued before I could get a word out; "Man, this macaroni is like rubber! Thankfully I've still got the beef."
He kept talking, but I zoned out as I noticed Evan standing behind the window smirking at us. I moved my hand over my throat to communicate that he would experience consequences if he told anybody about this, or if he tried to get me and Sean together, but he disappeared before I could do anything.
"...and I just think it's really unfair how they make us do maths during science class, like who even—hey, Mikey, what was that?" Sean asked, glancing at where I was facing.
"Oh, uh- nothing at all, Sean. Keep talking, I like your voice." I smiled and turned to face the window to see a bit of a ghost tail dash behind the wall just before I could catch their face. I knew it was Evan, though. It was obvious.
Sean grinned and continued to rant about topics I was nearly lost on.
