"Come on sweetheart let's go get ice cream" my father said. "Yay! ice cream! " I exclaimed
We started walking a different way than we would usually go though, but I didn't mention it. Maybe it was a shortcut.
15 minutes later, we arrived at dark, dangerous looking alleyway. "Dad, I don't think this is the right place, it looks scary.."
"O-oh haha" my father spoke, sounding very nervous. "I forgot my wallet at home, silly me! How about you stay here and wait for me? I'll be back in a bit!"
Before I could say something, he had already left.
A minute had passed, 30 minutes passed, an hour passed, it kept going on, until I fell asleep, behind a dumpster.
I woke up the next morning in a room that looked like it was in pretty bad condition.
"D-dad" you stuttered. A woman that looked like she was in her late 20's then came in to the room and glanced up at you, "You're awake! Here, drink some porridge!" The stranger began, passing you a bowl of porridge
You refused it. "Who are you! What am I doing here? Where's my dad?!" I questioned, I mean who wouldn't in this situation?
"Woah, calm down kiddo. I'm assuming your dad abandoned you by leaving you there like my mom did when I was your age..?" She replied, making it sound more like a answer rather than a question
"Abandoned? I don't know about you, but my dad would never." I scoffed, he couldn't have, he wouldn't, i believe in him..
"You're a little kid, I won't ruin your childhood. How about you just stay with me for a while, at least until your dad comes back, hm? Even though this little house isn't the safest, it's definitely safer than that place." the woman stated
"Well... if you insist." I didn't feel comfortable in that creepy looking place anyways.
I didn't say it, but I sort of had a gut feeling he wasn't gonna come back.
"Now drink some of the porridge and have some more rest, you look like you haven't ate in a while.."
"Uh well.. thank you Ma'am." She's quite nice. "Call me Mary!" she said with a slime.
"Thank you, Mary!" I smiled back at her. "No problem, sweetheart."
