Red Eye - Vance Joy

I woke up the next morning after our dinner with a slight headache. I didn't think three-ish shots would impact me that much, but I guess I was wrong.

Maybe I didn't cook the alcohol out of the sauce enough.

Laying in bed, thinking about last night, I wondered if Harry would be okay enough to teach this morning. Then, I realized it was past noon, and he would've been halfway through his day.

I pulled my phone off my bedside table and started looking at some of my notifications. One in particular, from Sam, caught my eye.

sam: updates please!!!

I ignored her, knowing I'd stop by Lucky's today and tell her all about it.

I scrolled through social media, but quickly got bored of it, so I slid out of bed and brushed my teeth.

Teddy wandered around my entire apartment like he was lost, or looking for something, chirping away.

When I walked into my kitchen, I saw how spotless it was and remembered how kind Harry was to help me clean up my mess.

I decided to text him, for the first time.

For some reason, I felt a pressure to make the text count. Like I had to make it worth it, otherwise there was no point in sending the message.

It didn't matter that much, and I knew that; although, my actions differed from that mentality. I kept writing and deleting messages that were all similar to one another. I ultimately decided to bite the bullet, and go for something lighthearted.

charlie: my headdddd

Harry's response came within a few minutes.

harry: that bad, huh?

charlie: i guess you could say i'm a lightweight. how are you?

harry: not awful, it was hard getting out of bed this morning though. thank god my kids aren't too annoying today.

I laughed at this because from what I could tell, he really enjoyed his job and the kids he worked with. He seemed passionate, which is always a quality I like to see in people.

harry: so, if Charlie after three shots is giggly and ends up hungover, what is drunk Charlie like?

charlie: shouldn't you be teaching?...

harry: on lunch. can't get rid of me that easily

charlie: alright. i haven't been drunk in a long time. can't even remember the last time i went out and got hammered. most of the time i get tipsy off wine with Sammy at her apartment

harry: i think this calls for a change in your routine Charlie

charlie: you want to see me drunk?

harry: a little, but i also think change and variety are very healthy.

charlie: bad excuse. try again.

harry: what if i told you there would be karaoke

charlie: that i can definitely get on board with
