Life was quite unfair to young Izuku Midoriya. I mean in a world where everyone has a super power he of all people was born without one. He was quirkless. But young Izuku didn't find a problem with that. Sure, he didn't have a strong quirk like his Idol or his best friend Kaachan but, all he needed to do was train harder instead right?

Oh the poor boy, how naive he was. With thoughts like that no wonder it took him so long to realize why people started to treat him differently. The children who used to be his friends either left him or began to bully him relentlessly. And his precious Kaachan left him for some other kid with a strong quirk like his. And the teachers who once took care of him didn't even bat an eye as he tugged on their shirts when he was alone or tormented during play time.

His mother was even worse. Not knowing how to deal with having a quirkless child she buried herself in her work taking up as many double shifts in the hospital as she possibly could. And when she was forced to go home, she would then go out with friends just so she wouldn't see that face filled with sadness and disappointment. So that she wouldn't feel the guilt of abandoning her child. She would be gone days at a time leaving him hungry and without other resources so she would leave money and numbers for take out with him. It wasn't much but it was still something.

Slowly he realised why. Why everyone was treating him so badly. Why the world was abandoning him. His eyes were opened  by non other than his Idol on Christmas Eve while he was walking the streets aimlessly, hoping to at least find a gift that would make his mother happy, or make his Kaachan come back to him again.

It was like looking at an angle. His blonde hair, electric blue eyes and his bright smile. The boy rushed towards him, his little mind bursting with questions but only focusing on one. Once he reached the man it was as if all of his dreams could come true. Too bad that they were going to be shattered.

"Listen kid," He said, "I can see it in you. You have a lot more passion and spirit than heros of today have but you've got to give up on that dream. You can't be a hero. You'd be nothing else than a liability. Maybe your all your friend is trying to do is protect you. And give your mother a little time I'm sure that things will get better."

As the snow fell and the halo around the man's head faded, Izuku's world was shattered. That smile for him no longer resembled hope but the hard reality that had just dawned upon him. Slowly he pulled away from the hero and and walked back to the cold empty apartment. The happy smiling boy was no more and all that was left was an empty shell of what use to be.

Izuku didn't bother going back to school, it wasn't like his mother or the teachers would notice. The only person who did was Bakugou who just came by to tell him about how stupid he was being for not coming. Izuku sat in the empty home all day, avoiding his room so that he wouldn't have to see the face of the man who was once his hero.

On days when his mother came home he would go hide in the guest room until she went out again. Sometimes so would call out to him to see if he was there but didn't answer. Why would he answer back to the woman who basically abandoned him.

One night Izuku was in the guest bedroom again because his mother had come back again. She stayed for longer than usual and even walked around for a bit before leaving. He sat there on the bed, and looked up at the stars. He had always admired them a lot more than he did heros. He'd sometimes close his eyes and imagine that he was able to hold them in the palm of his hand.

A blanket of darkness covered him but he didn't panic. It was comforting presence that had been following him for months. He didn't confront it but simply accepted it. It wasn't as if it tried anything before. Not until now anyways.

‘Do you want to hold the stars?’

He was silent for a moment before he answered.

“I would like to but I can't.”

‘Why not?’

“Because they're too far away. And too big. And too hot. Honestly, they're a lot of reasons.”

‘Can I help you? Can I help you hold the stars?’

Can you help me?” Izuku asked.

It was silent once again. This time for longer than before. It was a while before the presence spoke to him again.

‘Close your eyes and open your hand. Please.’

Izuku smiled and did as he was asked.

‘Open your eyes now.’

Izuku nearly screamed but he somehow kept it together. The night sky he was just staring at was dark, now void of any stars. Said stars rested gently in his palm, floating just above his skin. It was beautiful and comforting as the warmth of the stars traveled around his body. At the same time it was utterly fucking terrifying.

“Who are you? No, what are you?”

‘I do not know.’

“Do you want something?”

The voice was quiet for a moment as if thinking about its answer.

‘I want a friend.’

The answer startled Izuku for a bit but here the truth in its voice and could feel the sadness and loneliness coming from it to.

“Okay then, I'll be your friend but only if you put back these stars.”

Within the blink of an eye the stars were back in the sky more beautiful than ever before.

“Okay, now that we're friends what's your name? Mine is Izuku.”

‘I don't have one.’

“That's okay. I'll find a good one for you.”

That night Izuku looked up at the stars. The ones which not even a few minutes prior were in his hands. That night Izuku made a friend which could either be an eldritch abomination or something close to god itself. He didn't know nor did he care, he had a friend and that was all that mattered. That night Izuku Midoriya smiled. But this wasn't smile of goodness and hope. Nope! Far from it. This was a smile foreshadowing the pure unadulterated chaos that would befall upon this world.

Chaos that was now the duo of Yoru and Izuku.
