Chapter 4

They texted the entire evening. Both were so happy to find each other, to the point where the distance between them was hard to bear. Even though they were all lovey-dovey, something was still bothering Y/N. She explained how scared she was of the reaction of the others, and didn't want to face any trouble before the final exams. Therefore, their relationship would have to be kept a secret. For him, it didn't matter if the others knew. As a matter of fact, everybody had to know she was his, and he was hers only. But he understood her worries and her doubts, and he would do anything she would be comfortable with, as he cared for her deeply. Y/N still agreed they could greet each other, there was no need for them to ignore one another.

But the other students noticed something. They felt a change in her behaviour, and none of them knew why. It was only until they noticed Jungkook looking at her from afar a couple of times that they thought both could be in a sort of relationship. The looks, the smiles, the embarrassment after these gestures. They wished he would have stared at her for her weird looks and bizarre race. So they decided to directly ask her, while she was putting her things in her backpack at the end of the class. « Did you see ? Jungkook can't stop looking at you » said a student. « I mean, she looks weird and ugly, so I get him. » mocked another. Everyone around them gasped and laughed at his comment, except Iseul, who barked at them, ordering them to back off and stop bothering her friend. But Y/N didn't let these comments reach her soul. She knew the truth, she even thought of how delicate he is with her, so she ignored the student's commentaries. The little sheep knew he thought she was beautiful, and so did she.

One day, the wolf invited his mate for an ice cream date at the nearby park, and she gladly accepted. Jungkook even insisted on paying for her ice cream, as it was a way for him to show her his love. The two lovers held each other's hands and walked around the park, under the soft sunlight of May. They tried each other's ice cream flavours, berry for Jungkook, and chocolate for Y/N. Both exchanged about their lives, their hobbies, and Jungkook even shared his passion for bunnies and video games. Suddenly, as Y/N was starring at the view of the park after finishing her treat, her mate had the idea of taking a picture of her. He immediately took his phone out and captured her smile on his screen. When she noticed it, she became shy and wanted him to stop. But the multiple compliments and encouragements from him made her change her mind. That day, she also discovered Jungkook's passion for photography.

« We should take a picture together, little lamb. » « Together ? But you already have so many pictures of me. » she said with a light pink shade on her cheeks. « Yes, and now I want picture of us ! ». He got closer to her and started taking selfies with her. Sometimes, she would try to escape, leaving funny pictures of him smiling or being playfully sad, and her being blurry. But as she got more comfortable with the idea, the picture turned out really cute, and none of them wanted to stop creating memories. He took pictures and videos of her laughing, smiling and talking randomly to each other. He captured the moments he would embrace her in his arms, kiss her forehead, her cheeks. He loved all of this, and making her laugh was his favorite part of all. Jungkook wanted to keep their first moments together forever.

Soon, he noticed the stares of the other people around them, but he never showed her the worry he felt for being judged and stared at. The wolf's situation was, as a matter of fact, not ordinary at all. Normally, sheeps avoid wolves, and wolves do not hang out with people as weak and low as the sheeps. Jungkook made sure to make them back off and mind their own business, and it was easy to do so with his eyes, turning a deep shade of red each time his inner alpha came out. They could kill if they wanted to. After all, the wolf knew his mate could be uncomfortable with those stares, and wanted to make the day as perfect as possible for both of them. But she knew about it. The stares, the comments. She just decided to ignore them, for the greater good. Their day was perfect, and nobody could ruin it.

She was wrong.

As soon as they finished recording another video of them laughing and enjoying each other's company, they started to go through a couple of the footages they took. Unfortunately, some people had something against it. A group of males and females, mostly males, approached them. Since hybrids could tell the breed of the others simply by the scent, it was no surprise that Jungkook and his mate caught their attention. As they were getting close to them, Y/N turned around and recognised some of them. They were part of the people who bullied her in high school, and now university. Her beautiful smile immediately disappeared, and fear took place in her heart. Jungkook felt her muscles tense around his arms, so he placed himself in front of the young female as a sign of protection, ready to attack whoever would try to approach his mate.

« What do we have here ? A wolf and its meal. » mocked a male. « Your parents never thought you to not play with your food, puppy ? » asked a female. « How come y'all are together ? Are you trying to get into her pants ? » « Leave us alone, now. » ordered Jungkook with a deep voice, as he was trying to stay calm. « The Moon Goddess paired you up ? Oh wow, that's... gross ! » and all of them started laughing, one by one. Nobody could understand what Jungkook had done to deserve such punishment. « Shut up ! That's none of your damn business. » « Yeah, thank the Moon it isn't ! » « Look ! She's crying ! » « You're courageous, I couldn't bare being with a weak ass sheep like he- ».

But the male couldn't finish his sentence, for Jungkook was very angry. So angry that he took him by his neck and brought the male down, almost on his knees. Jungkook had his right hand firmly closed around the male's neck, he couldn't breathe. But his inner wolf had come out to protect his mate, and there was no turning back from now. Jungkook had fire in his eyes, fierce, and nobody around them dared to move an inch, feeling the instant regret after depicting his rank. « I told you already to leave us alone, but y'all didn't, so listen to me, bastard. » said Jungkook using his deep alpha voice. « If you don't stop making fun of her, and if you guys don't leave us alone, none of you will see the light of day ever again, am I clear ? ». The suffocating male couldn't respond. He was still trying to get out of the wolf's grip, with no success. Jungkook finally let go of his neck, making the male fall on the ground and cough after finally getting some air in his lungs. All of his friends ran away after receiving another terrifying look from the wolf, and the male didn't waste much time to follow them.

Once they had left, Jungkook turned around and took his sheep in his embrace. He comforted her, and kept telling her sweet words for her not to cry. Her breathing calmed down a little, and she finally looked in his eyes. He knew what she was about to say. He knew it wasn't going to be good, and even if they still didn't have the mind-link, he communicated through his eyes how much he didn't care about the others. « Kook, at this point, I wonder if we will ever find peace. » declared the young lady, looking down. « Berry, don't say that. » « But look at their stares, their opinions ! We will never be able to love each other without having people making fun of us. ». Despite his reassuring words and his attempts to make her feel better, he knew she was right. There will always be people disagreeing with their love life and their choices, and making friends, bonding with the family, these little things in life could get more and more difficult because of the way people would see them, behave with them, talk to them.

Nevertheless, he gathered up his courage to talk to her. With his finger, he lifted her face up, so he could look at her in her eyes, and said: « We will fight for our love, then. Have courage, berry ! I will be there by your side, facing all of the hardships with you. But I can't do this alone, I need your help. And while you might think it won't change anything, I can assure you that when we are together, nothing can stop us. Nobody can ever separate us, because we were chosen by the Moon Goddess herself. She made the decision to put us together, and nobody can defy her, or tell her she made the wrong decision. » As he was talking, Y/N felt more and more empowered, and her face brightened up little by little. « Our love is not a coïncidence, it was planned from the beginning. Nobody can make us feel bad about loving each other, I won't allow it ! » finished the young alpha, with a smile on his face. The omega agreed and hugged her mate. She decided that day to believe in his words, and always defend their love, the same way he keeps defending it.

He was right. Their love was gold.
