Okay, just to make something clear.
This Knuckles is uh... sort of based on Boom and movie, mixed into one.
So he's not really canon anywhere.
BUT I JUST REALLY WANTED HIM TO LIKE... CALL ROUGE A SWEET NICKNAME, WHICH YOU'LL SEE.
THAT AND IT'S JUST CUTE OK.
FIGHT ME.
Rouge should be loved, adored and respected.
And I'm going to change whatever canon I want to make it happen 😤

You were dropped off at Rouge's place later that day, once she'd texted Knuckles had gone on home, Shadow having driven you.

"Thank you for letting me stay with you!" You said with a grateful smile, unbuckling your seatbelt.

"Don't mention it." Waving to Shadow as he drove off, you made your way inside the apartment complex, having received a key of your own from Rouge, and entered the apartment.

"Welcome back, hun!" Said Rouge, immediately hugging you when she saw you.

"Thanks!" You replied, beaming, happy to be back.

"Did you have a good time with Shadow?" She asked, releasing you.

You were tempted to ask 'did you have a good time with Knuckles?', but you refrained.

"I did! I worry about him and his eating habits, though..." Rouge laughed and patted you on the back, urging you to look up at her.

"Shadow's the last person you need to worry about. Nothing can bring that guy down. Not even not eating regularly." She replied, which honestly just made you more worried.

Not eating was common for him?

Ack.

He needed to take better care of himself!

"Can we invite him over tonight, then? I want to be sure he eats." Rouge didn't even think about it before nodding, and you happily began planning that night's dinner.

The next few days went without much happening.

You went to work, invited Shadow over for dinner, slept... the usual.

You hadn't expected for anything special to happen.

But then it did.

You were out shopping with Rouge, currently at a jewellery store. She wanted to treat herself and buy a new necklace, while you looked around, admiring the various different things they had on display, when a suspicious individual walked in.

Hooded and masked?

Well, you supposed it was kind of cold, and you supposed it was getting to be flu season.

But you were still suspicious.

Didn't help when they pulled out a gun and pointed it at the cashier.

"Money and jewellery in the bag, and make it quick!" He yelled, placing a duffel bag on the counter.

Right. That kind of person existed too.

The stealing kind.

You wondered what had brought them to do such a thing, but right now, you didn't really care.
