Cue "Graduation (Friends Forever)" by Vitamin C for all my fellow fans of sick late-90s jams out there. As we go on, we remember...
The words of that airy song had been floating through my head on a loop for several hours now, like clouds sleepily drifting through the sky with no certain destination. And while we're on the subject of the classics, I can't forget to mention the lyrically immaculate "Graduate" by Third Eye Blind occupying my headspace approximately eighty-five percent of the time these days. Can I graduate?!
I suppose music has always been my top coping mechanism. To be fair, it would really have to be a draw between music, and books—both of which have, for years, allowed me the opportunity to bury my head and happily escape my own reality; to create a world for myself where no one can find me.

After the unceremonious events of yesterday evening, my brain felt like it was melting—disintegrating into goo as the hours dragged on—surely, it would be nothing short of a medical marvel if I survived this catastrophe in one piece.
I wish I lived in that fantasy, fairytale world, right at this very moment. A world far more fair, and just, and kind than the one we live in. Ha. I don't sound bitter at all... I mused with myself internally, my thoughts juggling through my mind like a circus act for the better part of the last eighteen excruciating hours.
