Jennie quickens her pace, internally cursing out her short legs. She is late. Very late. And she is only one month in the job. What if the manager is there and he sees how irresponsible she is?
In her weak defence, she hasn't been able to sleep well for two days. First, her eyes won't close and when they do close, they won't open. Thus her skipping half the lecture in her class yesterday.
To her luck, today's lecture was also very long. Usually, she has enough time after her classes to go home and rest a bit before getting ready and leaving for her night shift.
But today, Mr. Yoon from economics obviously didn't get a good suck from his wife in the morning and decided to take all his frustration out on the poor students who are already on the verge of death, and might she also add, going through a very dry spell because of finally exams.
Causing her to be late and now she is running towards the store with her ass in her hands.
To play it safe, she turns her heels towards the front of the store rather than the back. The manager is always lazing around there whenever he comes to visits. She hasn't gotten her first pay-check yet so your girl is not takings any risks today.
Bag hanging on one of her shoulder, she bounce towards the light coming from the store's opening. On her way, her eyes glance towards the left, noticing few people gathering around, smoke surrounding their figures.
She doesn't question them and continues to walk in the store. She sighs in relief when she sees no sight of the manager.
"Look who finally decided to show up." Yeonjun huffs, forehead wet with sweat as he puts down a heavy box he carried inside.
Jennie throws her bag inside the counter. "Sorry. Had a long lecture in the class today."
"Look at you go, throwing your degree at our faces." Jieun teases from her place in the table, back leaned and relaxed.
She doesn't bother with the glare Yeonjun sent her way.
Jennie giggles, sliding in behind the counter and starting her shift. "You know I didn't mean that."
"That's what they all say." Yeonjun is bitter as he continues to sweat. "And why am I carrying these boxes alone? They are heavy as fuck."
"Because you're the man, Yeonjun. You are a real man." Patting the man on the chest a few times to get his ego fuel going, Yerin turns towards Jennie. "And Jennie is the only one of us loser fuckers who is actually doing something good for her future. I say you keep it going, bestie."
"At least you all have money. I'm broke as fuck." Jennie sighs, looking at the costumer checkouts they did in her absence. "But you shall not be worried or frightened anymore, for I am the future business woman."
"Really?" Yeonjun deadpans. "Who's going to work under you?"
"You won't with that attitude, that's for sure." The little woman sasses.
