It was finally Saturday, the day of the week that I went to the library and enjoyed being far away from people at school. As I walked in the front door I saw my book, along with a few others, waiting for me on the front desk. I picked it up and walked quietly to my chair in the far left corner of the library. No one really bothered me there, which I liked. I mostly read sci-fi, because it was interesting to me, but this week I was reading "To Kill a Mockingbird." It was a good book, for the most part, but didn't really get my attention. my best friend Sophia had told me to read it, promising it to be great. She was into romance and realistic fiction and that kind of thing, I didn't get it.

I sat in the library for about 2 hours. When I came out, Sophia was in the parking lot ready to take me home, unexpectedly. "I have to tell you something!" She said with a huge smile on her face.
"You know that guy Dillon at school right?" She asked.
"Yeah he's the cute one in my art class right?" I questioned.
"Well, he asked me out on a date this Wednesday!" She exclaimed.
"Wow, congratulation! I'm so happy for you!" I said, feeling a little jealous.
"Thanks!" She said as I got out of the car and started walking toward my house.
"I'll see you later." I yelled after her.

When I got to my door I realized that I left my key in Sophia's car. Great. So I sat on my porch in the bench swing that we had had for as long as I can remember. I put my earbuds in and started playing Slipknot. I watched as a teenager that looked about my age rode by on a long board. I had never seen him before, so I thought he must be new to the neighborhood. He saw me on the swing and slowed down at the end of my driveway, and quickly pulled his board from under him, while walking toward me. I slowly took my earbuds out of my ears as he walked up.
"Are you locked out?" He asked.
"Um..uh yeah I left my keys in my friends car." I sputtered.
"Oh, well you looked like you could use some company." He continued,
"Oh um sure yeah." I said quietly.

He sat down next to me and asked, "what were you listening to?" looking a little shy, contradicting his behavior from just a few seconds ago.
"Skeptic, by Slipknot." I said
"Can I hear it?" He asked curiously.
"Um if you want to." I said, handing him my left earbud. He slipped it into his ear, a small smile creeping into his face as he did.
"I like it!" He said, not realizing he was being extremely loud. I let out a small laugh, looking straight at him as I did so. A little frown appeared on his face.
"What?" He asked, confused?
"Nothing..." I said, still giggling a bit.
"Really, what were you laughing at?" He asked, slowly staring to smile.
"You were just talking super loud." I told him.
"Oh I'm sorry." He said, sheepishly.
"Don't be sorry, it was funny." I said,
"Oh ok" he said laughing a little.
"Well, I have to go, I guess I'll see you around." He said checking his phone.
"Ok I'll see you later." I said waving, feeling a little disappointed as he walked to the road and started riding his long board.
