As we enter, I feel her grip get tighter, somehow her hands got softer. I made sure she didn't see my face so she wouldn't know that I'm enjoying this interaction. Maybe it's because I haven't had any physical contact with anyone in who knows how long. The next thing I know, I'm laying down on the beach still holding Celeste's hand. I slowly take my hand away to try and not wake Celeste. I sit up to see where we are. The beach itself is long with a few rocky outcroppings, I turn around to see a lush forest a couple meters away. I float up to get a better view of the land, In the distance I see vast mountains covered in trees. It's hard to tell the distance, but a ways away from the mountains to the right, is a clearing with a large river leading into the ocean. I look down to see Celeste waking up, so I float back down to her, "Rise and shine, welcome to THE PAST." Celeste put her hand on her forehead, "Do you always get headaches?" "Eh I just ignore em" I smirk trying to sound tough for some reason. Celeste looks around finally realizing where she is, "THIS IS AMAZING," She looks up to the stars and darts up into the clouds squealing the whole way up. I do my catch up to her as she sits on the clouds. "You seem to be enjoying yourself," Celeste giggled softly, "Though I don't have anything to observe the stars or write about this, just seeing them is great." I start to smile, "I guess there is something nice about staring into an endless void filled with light that's millions of years old and origins of said stars are likely dead." Celeste turns back to the stars, "Well yeah, but it's so cool that people used these lights to navigate around the world and it helps us learn about our own world and other possible worlds. And also, the stars are pretty." I sit down next to Celeste and look up, "Yeah, I guess they are pretty." About 10 minutes go by of us just looking at the stars, pointing out which stars we think are brighter. "I wish we could stay here forever." Celeste said, sounding disappointed. "I think you'd get bored after a few days," we both laugh, "but actually, as I said before, our lives are not bound by time, whenever we decide to go back, we'd be back at the same time we left." I've never really thought about staying on Earth for longer than a day or two. Celeste turned to me, "How would we get back?" She doesn't look all that concerned about getting back. "Well there's the easy way and the slightly harder way, I don't want you to do the easy way, so what we'll have to do is fly faster than the speed of light. As we are not bound by the laws of the living we can do it pretty easily, but we have to find a direction that has no obstacles for a long distance." Celeste looks at me confused, "Why don't you want me to do the easy way?" I let out a sigh as I don't want to tell her what I had to do to figure out these different methods, "The easy way is quick, but even though we aren't bound by living laws, that way is taxing on the soul, so just follow me." I grab Celeste's hand, "Don't worry, we'll be fine" We fly straight out of the solar system past the speed of light and back to Purgatory. "That was fun, see ya around Celeste." I leave instantly, I feel weird, I always understand what I feel, mostly because it's boredom and spite. I feel like I disappointed her and it's bothering me, why? Wait, I have an idea.
