-Venti's pov-

Fire surrounded me, swords clanking and powers swooshing. An explosion went off behind me where I remember Xiao had been standing.

The force caused me to fall to my knees, ears ringing, what was this? Why did it make me weak... I quickly turn around when realization hit, Xiao.

I saw him standing on guard, La Signora in front of him with her menacing look walking forward. "You won't take him this time" was all I could hear from Xiao being near, his face and torso were bleeding, but he was still protecting me.

Sudden pain hit at my back at stomach, looking down I see a spear that was once nearby on the ground, it must've impaled me with the explosion.

But I couldn't stay there doing nothing, I quickly tried to make my bow appear but I struggled, ending up back where I started, on my hands and knees trying to slow the bleeding with my breathing.

My ears still rang but I could hear a muffled conversation between La Signora and Xiao. Too fast for me to process, Xiao was against a broken tree ghasping for air while La Signora kept walking towards me, I felt a deep force dropping on me, keeping me weak and making me fall forward and scream in pain from the sudden move of the spear.

Xiao's screams echoed, belowing my name and slurs towards La Signora. She stepped in front of me as I tried to get up but only did she tap my back and I crumbled managing to slip my hand underneath y chest and the other down on my thigh level.

"As I said, you may run, but you'll never hide" I could barely hear. "I won't run any longer..." I whispered with the last strength I had and charged my bow from underneath my body, too slow.

She grabbed the spear from my back and ripped it out while having me pinned down by her foot on my lower torso.

"I knew I'd have caught you off guard if you were only thinking about saving that boy" she said before she dug the now burning spear through the center of my upper back.

Letting myself scream, I turned my head on the dust of the floor and gave her a side eye while smirking lightly, "I knew I'd catch you off guard if you were paying attention to me...and he's not just a boy...he's a Yaksha"

Just then she widened her eyes and looked forward as Xiao's fully charged attack speared through her heart, battling even when she was already loosing power, she was one crazy woman.

I sigh trying to not pay attention to having a legitimate spear going through me and the ground, it was already getting hard to breathe. I'll just...rest for a while...

"venti...Venti...VENTI!" I lightly open my eyes to see a tearful bloody Xiao kneeling beside me making me lightly smile.

"Did you win?" I whisper "yeah, we won" he whispers back taking my numb hand. "Are you hurt?" "Look who's talking, come on, we need to get a doctor" he says trying to lift me up. "Xiao, I can't move..."

"No...you have to...she didn't hit any organs, you'll be fine!" he begged. "She speared through my spine, I can't move, Xiao" I say starting to tear up a little, "promise me you'll visit Diluc at least once a month, and keep the people of Mondstat safe-" I start to cough up blood adding to the pool that was already made around me.

"No NO! You won't die! Not on my watch!" He starts trying to gently take the spear off the ground so he can pick me up.

As full of surprises that he is, he managed to do it, "Xiao, you're hurt..." I try to speak, "You need a doctor" he says blankly trying to hold back tears, a few steps later his leg fails, dropping us both to the ground.

"Please, you need to stay awake!" He says looking at me. "Xiao...can you please play me a song?" I rasply say "your flute is in my vest" "Venti..." "Please Xiao, one last song"

He grabs underneath my shoulders and sets me lightly on his lap trying to keep away from the spear, he grabs the flute and looks at me, "Help will arrive soon so please, stay awake till then"

"I'll try..." I respong lightly smirking and start listening to the song he was playing, (of course he was playing the genshin theme but more smooth and light)

My eyes start closing and I can hear him begin to sob, for a second I can feel our lips connect and his hand holding mine hearing him whisper an I love you before everything went black.

There I was, my numb limp body laying on my partner's lap, we had won, we had finished the one who brought us despair and agony, but at what cost...we couldn't be together anymore...could we?
