Narrator pov:
Eren already transformed as he let out a huge roar, it echoed throughout the forest.

Captain Levi heard it but not only that he sees somebody.

"CAPTAIN!!!" Petra landed on a branch gasping for air.

Levi landed beside her.

"CAPTAIN......Captain!!"

"Petra, get ahold of yourself, where is everyone else?"

Petra was on her knees, Levi knelt down and looked up at him with tear in her eyes.

"I'm sorry.......they're......"

Levi gently gripped her shoulder.

"No need to say further......just regroup with everyone else."

"Yes sir."

Levi went in a hurry.

But it wasn't too long until he discovered his team corpses. He had on a blank expression.
Nicholas pov:
My father transformed, he ignored my presence, knowing my father he was full with rage. Everything is going according to plan, I stood there watching the stare down. And they commenced their battle,

My father wasn't gonna win, his mind is just a constant raging river, it's never clear, he can never decide for himself.

My father was already getting exhausted, and then the female titan, landing the finishing blow. My father titan collapsed, I can hear odm hear from the right side. The female titan bit into his neck, revealing him and then my mother screamed in terror.

My fists clenched, Mikasa attacked and followed the titan. I followed secretly, I know captain Levi is supposed to show up, which he did. He and Mikasa teamed up, they both had the skill to do so, hange told me about the report.

Hange couldn't forget this day they lost a lot of good people, like they do any other mission but thinking you were prepared only to be fooled. Is frustrating especially if the enemy is one of your own, at least that's what she thought.

I departed and regrouped with captain hange. I knew the outcome, so there was no need watch, I just had to ready the wagon my father was gone be on since he was gonna be unconscious.

As we regrouped, Petra came up to me.

"Nicholas right?"

"Yes ma'am."

"Thank you for saving me."

"We're soldiers, we have to have each other back."I said with a smile.

"Right."  As she grabbed my hand and shook it.

The survey corps regrouped, or what was left of us regrouped.

I saw my father being lied down and my mom being by his side.

We began riding away, needed to get back home before it got dark.

"How's he looking?" I asked.

"He's....alright."my mom said.

"WAIT!!!!" We heard a yell.

From behind were two guys, with titans following.

"Crap I forgot about this part." I muttered to myself.

"Damn we can't fight now."

"We're moving to slow."

"We have no choice then, dump the bodies."

"What are you sure??!!??"

"JUST DUMP THE BODIES!!!"

I remember this hurt hange the most, bodies being dumped, seeing comrades not receiving a proper burial, families not being able to see their cousin,son,daughter,sister,brother  etcetera.

I watched every single one of those bodies just roll. It made my stomach turn, I've witnessed death all my life but just seeing this, it makes me angry.

We eventually got back to town, men,women and children watched us comeback. They all had their own comments, some not being so good. Petra father approached Levi with Petra being by his side.

Petra father gave her a big hug.

That.....was the only highlight of my day. My father woke up too. He was in tears. It was a mission failed.

Now we went into debrief, we get some rest before our next move.

I decided to go on my own and put my stuff away.

And I decided to head out for a walk but I was stopped.

"Hey." I turn around to see my mother.

"Oh, hello."

"Where are you going?"

"Just for a walk."

"Is it alright if....."

"To come with?"

"Yea....."

"Sure."

My mother and I walked through the town, she's very quiet, hange told me she kept to herself, only stuck by my father and armin.

"Is there something you want to talk about?" I asked politely.

My mom kept quiet.

"Mom.....I know.....it's not easy for you to open up."

"And I know why you like sticking by him, talk to me....I'm all ears."

"I just wanna know......how your future is really like?"

My eyes widened.

"I thought.....you were gonna ask something about dad."

"No......I just wanna know our future as a family."

"Oh.....well, unfortunately mother......I was only a baby, you died after you gave to birth me, you only held in your arms for a few minutes, your body was just incredibly worn out from constant battle.......that's what hange told me."

"And Eren?"

"He was out there fighting.....but he died in combat."

"And what about everyone else?" She asked.

I shook my head.

"Will we ever live the life we want to?" My mom asked.

"Why do you think I'm here, I need to save everyone future.....even if it-" before I could say anything I heard a woman laughing and her little boy in her arms being lifted up in the air.

I felt my eyes begin to water, I began huffing through my nose, looking at them, that was supposed to be my future but it was taken away. I felt my hands gripping.

"Nicholas." I heard my mom said gently placing her hand on my shoulder.

"S-sorry.....lost my train of thought."

"I think we should head back, something's coming."
*hours later*
We met up with captain Erwin, we met with captain Levi and Eren at the dining hall.

"We may know the identity of the female titan....and this time we wont let her escape."

"Let me guess, this one knows?" Levi said.

"Sorry, memory hazy, some things haven't come back to me but I'm confident in commander Erwin's answer."

We all sat at the table, and began planning.
