ꜰɪʀꜱᴛ ᴅᴀʏ ʙʟᴜᴇꜱSelah was completely sleeping when she heard a sharp knock on her door, causing her to wake up, followed by her brother's voice. "Selah, get up; we need to pick up Carlos on time."
Selah groaned as she wasn't ready to be woken up yet. Before getting ready, she sat up, rubbed her eyes, and stared into space. Because of the cast on her left foot, she was irritated. She despised having to use crutches to get around because it made her feel as if she couldn't do anything.
She grabbed her crutches from beside her bed and stood up to find some clothes. When she found something, she went to the bathroom to take a shower, which was more difficult than usual because she was trying to avoid getting her cast wet, but she always managed to prevent it. Once she was done in the bathroom she went into the kitchen make some cereal.
She opened the pantry, and just as she was about to reach for the cereal, Nehemiah strolled into the kitchen. "We've got three minutes, Selah," he spoke as he double-checked his backpack.
Selah slowly turned her head to him, her eyes wide. "Three minutes?" She questioned. "That's not even enough time to eat anything."
"Yes, three minutes, I'm trying to stay on schedule." He clarified. "So hurry up and eat something."
"Well, I can't really hurry." She raises her injured foot. "I'm not sure if you're aware, but as you can see, my foot is trapped in this cast, and I'm using these stupid crutches to get around."
"If we're being completely honest, it's pretty hard to miss." He laughed as she gave him the death gaze, causing him to come to a stop and clear his throat. "Listen, I'll get you some food after school; it's just that we really need to go now."
"Fine," Selah murmured, tilting her head back. "But don't be surprised if one day I wake you up late and tell you, you don't have time to eat breakfast."
"I'm counting it" he smiled as he put his bookbag on and grabbed hers off the ground. "You sure got everything in here?" He pointed to her bookbag into which she nodded in response. "Alright let's go"
Lucian was standing right there on the porch as Nehemiah opened the door. "Well, it looks like you guys are right on time." He smiled.
"Yeah, and if you don't get in the car so we can go pick up Carlos so we can be early to the annual back-to-school kick off, we'll be late," Nehemiah explained, waking pass him.
Lucian furrowed his brows at Selah, receiving just a shoulder shrug in response as they made their way to the car.
After they had picked up Carlos he rushed Nehemiah to drive faster because he didn't want to be late for the announcement. "Nehemiah, if you cause me to be late, there will be consequences, so drive faster!"
