Diluc Ragnvindr was sleeping peacefully in what he didn't know was a fire. Somehow, he hadn't even noticed his room was filled with smoke. It was until he bitterly woke up to the sound of frantic banging at the door, and yelling. When he finally realized the situation, he had to awkwardly slip out from an open window while coughing profusely.
The residents were glad he was safe, and Adelinde had quite literally burst into tears upon seeing Diluc was okay.
The fire was only in Diluc's room, nowhere else. It hadn't even spread. The whole place was submerged in smoke, yes, but the fire was only in the room Diluc was sleeping in.
He had also found out that he would've died from smoke inhalation if he stayed in bed any longer than he did. He got rather sick from the smoke as a result but still carried on as if nothing happened.
It was soon figured out that the fire started because Diluc had somehow activated his vision in his sleep. No one knows how that even happened. Diluc was surprised as well.
The story about Diluc and the Dawn Winery almost burning up in ashes became famous around Mondstadt. Most of the townsfolk were surprised, some weren't, Kaeya being one of them.
Diluc Ragnvindr has severe bad luck. Not the type of luck where you don't get what you want, just horrendous luck.
Incidents like the fire in Dawn Winery happen almost all the time but in different ways. Diluc's bad luck can be minor, or major. Minor incidents happen more often than major events, but sometimes Diluc's unluck enhances.
"So," Kaeya said. "I heard about the fire yesterday." He continued with his usual smirk.Diluc coughed. "Is that so?" He replied, his voice hoarse. The smoke he inhaled in his sleep stuck to his lungs.
Kaeya watched as Diluc slowly carry a wine glass. He was always very slow with everything he touched, not wanting to accidentally drop it like he always did.
They both silently watched as Diluc tried his best to safely put a wine glass on the bar. He seemed rather focused on this certain task.
"Diluc," Kaeya exclaimed, intending to throw him off.
As a result, Diluc flinched backward. He dropped the wine glass. It shattered on the floor. Nobody else in the bar noticed except Diluc and Kaeya.
Diluc simply stood there, staring at the broken wine glass. He took a deep breath and slowly looked up at Kaeya. He suppressed the urge to tackle him to the ground.
"You should drink some water." Kaeya continued, acting as if nothing happened. "Maybe it'll help."
Diluc coughed. "I'm fine." He responded, bending down to pick up the broken glass.
Kaeya chuckled. "Sure you are," He said. "I bet it would help with your throat."
Diluc looked up at Kaeya as he slid a cup of water his way.
Diluc stared at it warily. "What?" He muttered.
"Just think of it as a gift from a brother!" Kaeya exclaimed, sipping his cup.
Diluc stared at the cup, holding it in front of him. Finally, he decided to take a sip. Unfortunately, that was a bad idea.
As soon as he swallowed, he started coughing. The drink Kaeya gave him was alcohol, not water. Vodka, to be exact. He coughed profusely, irritating his throat more. "Why would you give me alcohol?!" Diluc exclaimed in between coughs.
Kaeya looked surprised. "But.. it wasn't alcohol?" He replied, grabbing the cup of alcohol Diluc had dropped. He gave it a taste. "Oh, it is."
