Yukon's chest swole with pride- or maybe it only swole because he was simply out of air, but whatever the reason; he was proud. He listened to Cardinal annoyedly scuffle her paw in the mushy snow, letting out a growl of dismay. "I just had it! Dang it Yukon." She snapped, not intending to be so incredibly annoying. Yukon rolled his eyes, rising to his paws, trying to collect his breath. "You had it, but not quite." He remarked slyly, watching as she tucked her ears back, casting him a glare. "Oh yea?" She mused, before pouncing at his forepaws, he let out a leap backwards, playfully baring his teeth at her as they began to tussle, sending snow amongst their coats like powdered snow. Suddenly, another dog from the team- the champion, took it apon himself to soil the moment, yanking their collars with his teeth. Yukon looked up at him with pride, expecting the old dog to praise him for his speed and wit, only to be let down by his annoying elderly wisdom or whatever."Now, now, take it easy. You may have won the race, but that don't mean nothin. As long as you tried your hardest, both of you." The elder mumbled, and the two exchanged an amused glance, before Cardinal broke off. "Yea, isn't that right- Yukon?" She teased, and he simply raised his chin with a "hmph", trotting off. He listened to a few of his other new team mates congratulate him, and he acknowledged them with a dip of his head, trotting off to his musher, who was dismounting herself from the sled. He let out a bark, alerting her of his presence before energetically tackling inside her arms, his weight overwhelming her, sending her crashing to the slushy floor with him on top. "Haha, Yukon! Get off of me you dumb dog!" The girl squealed, and he licked her cheek gingerly, whisking his tail. "You'll be the lead dog in no time, I just know it." She spoke in a high pitched tone to her dog, petting his head as he cast a puppy-like gaze to his owner. As much as he wanted to believe her words, he knew he could never live up to the champion's legacy. An older dog, said to have been faster than the winds in the sky. Despite finding his wisdom incredibly and stupendously aggravating, he felt a sort of admiration for him, he had practically raised him after all.
