Love You to the Moon and Back (SerenityxEndymion fanfic)

Chapter Five

Endymion POV

"Listen, my parents are holding a masquerade ball in three days from today" I say nervously.

"Really? That sounds like fun" She replies smiling.

We're walking in the deeper part of the woods so we're out of sight. If someone were to catch us, it would be either me, her or the both of us dead. Especially, when we're holding hands.

How am I going to break it to her that I'm going to be betrothed?

Serenity stops in her tracks, and looks at me surprised, and then sadly. She lets go of my hand and starts to walk away in long strides, her long hair and dress flowing behind her.

Damn it! I forgot she could read my mind!

"Serenity, wait!" I exclaim. "Please, let me explain!" I jog to catch up to her.

God, what have I done?

I grab a hold of her hand and with my other I hold her face gently. She's trying to smile, but yet her eyes express sorrow.

"I'm happy...for you, Endymion" she lies. "I really am" she sobs.

"Serenity...I'm not going to let them betroth me to someone I don't even love" I say softly, trying to calm her down.

I kiss her salted cheeks, and brush her golden bangs away from her face, revealing her crescent moon.

"I want you to come. Come and meet my parents. I'll introduce you and-" She looks shocked and starts to shake her head.

"No. No. They can't meet me! If they find out about my lineage, they would kill us!" she panics, breaking down. She covers her crescent mark and starts to sob... I pull her into an embrace, and hush her, her sobs reduced to small hiccups. I stroke her hair and send her my energy through my fingertips which helps to calm her down.

"Shhhh...Shhhh....It's going to be alright, my Princess. God will protect us from all odds. We'll find a way. I promise I'll protect you."

I pick her up bridal style, allowing her to nuzzle her face into my neck. I carry her back to the Sakura tree, and let her rest while lying on my lap while I trace soft circles across her back. Her breathing slowing until the slow and soft inhalation and exhalation signals she's deep in sleep.

Her cheeks have been streaked with all the tears she has shed. He eyes a soft pink from all her crying, and her eyelashes are wet. All these tears because of me...

I can see why she's so scared. I have to- No, I MUST protect her at all costs.

"I can see why she loves you" I hear a some-what familiar female voice.

"Who's there? Show yourself!" I exclaim, covering Serenity's face with my arm, careful not to wake her.

"Relax, Earth Prince" I hear her say. I can see a silhouette appear from the shadows of a nearby tree.

And tall slender girl steps forward with long blonde hair, with a red ribbon tied at the back. She wears a short dress with a white bodice and orange skirt with the same colour collar going down her back. A large navy blue bow sits on her chest with a golden tiara sitting on her forehead with an amber stone in the middle.

"I am Sailor Venus, guardian of Venus and protector and guardian of the Moon Princess, Princess Serenity" She bows. 

"My gratitude to you, Venus. You serve your Princess well, and for that I thank you" I reply, nodding my head. "Now, would you kindly explain why you're here?"

She walks forward confidently, stops and stands in front of two of us, and then sits down on her knees, watching as my lover sleeps in my arms.

"I have been following you two all day, and I have to say, I have never seen her so in love before." She smiles sadly. "And for that, I thank you" she bows. "I have also come with a message from Queen Serenity." She says, sitting up with her back straight. "She says that her daughter, Princess Serenity, may come down to earth. But on one condition." She pauses and looks me dead in the eye.

"Either the Moon and Earth sign a treaty between the two kingdoms which will need to be declared by the King."

Well, that's not going to happen...

"Or you, Prince Endymion, must protect her when she is here on Earth, at all costs. If the citizens of your kingdom find out that she is a Denizen of the Moon, let alone the Moon Princess, she could be killed. If you're reckless, you could send both the Earth and the Moon into a complete all-out war" she finishes. "It's all up to you."

I nod to confirm that the orders were heard.

"That's about it" she says, getting up from her spot. "When the Princess wakes up, she can make a portal herself, I was just here to observe for my Queen." She says walking away, opening a new portal.

"Venus" I call. She turns around and looks at the Princess then at me.

"Yes?" she answers.

"Thank You. And also tell your Queen, she has my gratitude and trust" nod, respectfully.

She smiles and turns around. "Certainly" she replies. And she's gone.

 I promise to protect you. I promise to support you. I promise to love you eternally. I love you, Serenity.

I kiss her on the lips, slowly but softly. Her eyes open, and she smiles.

"I love you too, Endymion"

And we lose ourselves in our own little world - our own peace between the Moon and Earth Kingdoms.
