Adam's POV
My eyes popped open. It was dark outside and the room was chilly. I turned on the lamp by the side of the hotel room bed and grabbed a small notebook and a pen. I wrote down my latest idea that came to me in the middle of the night. I chuckled to myself.
"What's so funny?" whispered an exhausted James.
"I've been writing a joke book for myself. Anytime I think of something funny I write it so I remember it. Sometimes it's just garbage but other times it's good and I may use it for some sort of video, maybe a performance one day."
"Sounds cool. Scoot over, I wanna read."
James and I sat close to each other in bed, holding the book close to the light so we could read. He laughed at some of the jokes and complimented my writing.
"These are great Adam! Why don't you tell jokes on your channel?"
I shrugged. "I'm so used to telling stories already. I don't know how to change my content like that."
"Adam you should be having fun with the content you're making. That's what makes good content. Sure some people won't like it but your true fans are gonna stick around and at least see first. They'll see how engaged you are and they'll get engaged too. But when you make content you don't care about ur shows and it's not good for anyone, except maybe YouTube cause they can monetize it but still."
I looked over at James then down at my joke book. I took a chance on music right? Why not my dreams? I've always wanted to be somewhat of a comedian right? Why not give it at least one try online?
"I'll consider it."
"Good. Now let's head to sleep. We're heading home tomorrow and we're gonna need to catch our plane." James said between a yawn.
I nodded and closed my book.

Back to the good old grind.
I turned on my computer and drawing tablet and started working on the next video idea I had. It was still in the very early stages at the moment. I listened into the audio. I heard the fake enthusiasm, the forced laughter, the dry humor, the exhaustion within the lines. This was a video that the majority of people wanted.
Somewhere in the middle of drawing I started writing something down. A normal video, a regular video. About a performer arguing with a crowd of himself. The crowd criticized and screamed whenever something wasn't right about a perfect performance. Learning that he has to make something that makes him happy so that the audience would be.
The old video was gone.
In a couple of months the new one was out.
Then, he told his jokes.
The joke video got a lot of positive comments. People really thought it was funny. People liked the comedy. People liked him. I didn't have to do the simple boring videos I was used to. Yes, I'm proud of them and they were fun to make and I still like them. But a little bit of variety never hurt anyone.
Maybe I could tell more random jokes like these in the future?
Yeah they're fun.
I'm having fun and so is everyone else.
This is what I want to do.
This is how I wanna feel.
