Me and karkat walk through the school halls, him talking and me nodding along. You see I can't talk much, two years ago, I was in a car crash and I was the only one to survive but I also came away with crushed vocal cords so I can't talk very well. Because, I was made orphan by the accident my best friend, karkat, took me in, with the permission of signless that is. He knows that I have trouble talking, so he fights most of my battles for me. People tease me because I don't talk but karkat always helps me out.
The final bell rings, to signal the end of school, and we leave campus, heading to our hive. Once, we arrive, I hear shuffling and mumbling inside, and turn to karkat confused. It can't be signless because he is at work, and no body else has a key. Cautiously, we open the door, to see a troll very similar to karkat. The same black hair, the same nubby horns and the same red eyes. He wore a red sweater and black pants, with black and white conversation. I was about to turn to 'ask' karkat, who is is, but heard him shout instead.
"KANKRI WHAT THE EVER LOVING FUCK ARE YOU DOING IN MY HIVE!?!" the troll turned to look at us and sighed.
"Language karkat. You know how much it triggers me, and to answer your question, dad sent me to watch over you for a week, as that is how long he will be away. And frankly I'm not surprised he wants you supervised, if you are already bringing girls back to your hive." He said all this with a monotone, and looked at me with the last sentence, causing me to look down blushing from embarrassment.
"ONE, FUCK ALL YOUR TRIGGERING BULLSHIT. TWO, WHAT THE FULL ARE YOU DOING TO MY NOOKSUCKIN HIVE AND THREE, SHE FUNKING LIVES HERE DUMBASS!!!!!" He got closer to, what I assume is, his brother with every point until they were just centimeters away from each other. I just stood there, unsure of what to do.
"Karkat" he warned "you are highly triggering at the moment, I am trying to tidy the dump of a hive you live in and why would dad allow a female to live with you. We all know of you ne-" karat cut him off.
"SHUT YOUR BULGELICKIN MOUTH KANKRI! WE DON'T NEED TO HAVE A CLEANER HIVE! OR TO BE FUCKING INVERSTIGAED! AND I DON HAVE GOGDAMN NEEDS!!" he said as I started to get uncomfortable.
"Well, I will not disobey signless, so sick it up and deal with it. I have been told to watch over you so I will do just that." He voice started to raise ever so slightly.
"WHAT IF YOU BEING HERE INVERSTIGAED IS!? HUH? WHAT THEN KANKRI?!" kankri through about this for a second, then turned to me.
"Child does me being here trigger you in any way, shape, or form?" I looked down, not knowing what to do as I couldn't answer. "Well? Answer me." I started to feel warm tears running down my face, and not wanting a new person to see me like this, I turned and ran out the, still open,door.
As I ran down the street, all I heard were my heart and karkat screaming at his brother about me being mute.
-time skip-
I have been walking around aimlessly for about three hours. I have had five miss calls from karkat, three miss calls from an unknown number, which I assume is kankri's phone, and one from signless. I also have about 25 new messages from the same people.
After I had calmed down from my episode, I started walking back to he hive. I opened the door, and walked to my room, sitting on my bed, reading through my messages.
Suddenly, I hear a soft knock out my door, and go over to open it. I see kankri there, and go sit back on my bed, leaving the door open so he could enter.
"Can I enter?" He asks cautiously. I turn to face him and nod my head.
He walks over to my bed and looks at my bed then me. I sigh and pat the seat next to me. He sits and watches me, until I look him in the eye.
"I am truly sorry for triggering you (y/n), I didn't know that you couldn't talk. If I possessed said information, I wouldn't have put you on the spot like that. Would you please forgive me?" this had taken me back, but I smiled softly and nodded nonetheless. Catching me off guard, he enveloped me into a hug, and hesitantly I hugged back.
