Where am I?

                                                                     Silo

I started to slowly sneak through the house, and when I got to the backdoor, I slowly opened up the glass doors to walk out to the pool. I walked towards the pool, and lowered myself into the pool trying to make as little noise as possible. Once I was fully submerged in the water, I went to underhang next to the rock slide, and hid under it to keep my parents from getting in there. I saw my parents walk outside, and they said,"Come out, come out, wherever you are, Silo. You can't hide from me for too long."

I closed my eyes and all of a sudden I got knocked down by what seemed to be waves. I opened my eyes to get nasty salt water thrown into my face. I almost screamed but I realized that I shouldn't for the fear of drowning in salt water. I started to freak out, and thrash the water, trying to swim to any surface possible. All of a sudden there were monstrous waves and when I went under the water's surface, I turned around to see a coral rock just in time for impact. I whirled around in the water.

SEVERAL HOURS PASS

I woke up to the sound of waves crashing, and the loud sound of what I assumed to be someone laughing, but more high pitched. I opened my eyes slowly, and looked around. My head started to ache from the movement, then I saw it. It was a weird looking bird, and it looked really diseased. It opened its mouth and a loud laughing noise came from within. It sounded like "Hah hah hah", it was closer than it was before and it was more of a laugh or scream. It looked me in the eye, made direct eye contact and screeched its horrible noises. Then it ran with such force at me, I barely had any time to reach out to stop it, but I did. With great strength I swept its feet out from underneath its body. It made terrifying noises and flew away.

I slowly got up and tried to walk away, but I started to get dizzy. I grabbed a hold of the nearest thing I could, and it just so happened to be a giant, hulking palm tree, it was the size of regular trees back home but bigger. I shook the tree when I grabbed it and I heard something crack, I looked up just in time to move out of the way of a falling...?

Peach? I didn't know what it was, but it looked really delicious. It cracked slightly, and it smelled like a peach, and I bet if I took a bite out of it, it would taste like one too. I could only smell it because it was so hot outside.

I looked around and noticed that I was on a beach full of trees that had peaches or some other type of fruits on them. There were also some rocks in a circle, there didn't seem to be anything odd about the beach, or is it an Island. I'm not sure how I got to this Island, and I'm not sure I can survive on this Island. I took my bag I had packed to run away from my parents and unzipped it. I took inventory of all my items; let's see I have a flashlight, lighter, drawing paper, swiss army knife, extra set of clothes, money, tent(just in case I needed somewhere to sleep), a space blanket, and a survival book (I brought it just to read, and maybe get to know my surroundings if I am not able to find a place to stay, maybe just to find one in the woods, so now it has more purpose for me).

I saw some sticks lying around so I started to pick all of them up and put them in a pile. As I walked towards the tree line, I saw something run across my line of vision, so I turned around to look, but there wasn't anything there. I continued to pick up all the rest of the tree limbs and stack them in a pile, I dug a hole and started to stack the limbs in a triangular shape. I grabbed my bag and opened it, I grabbed the lighter, and some paper from my drawing pad, lit the paper on fire, and nestled the paper just so perfectly in between the makeshift campfire i had just made.

Finally I can get working on the tent. This is gonna be slightly tricky, because it's my first time doing it by myself. I have to read the manual again.

I sat down to read the manual, and I read that I should use the following steps on the manual:

STEP 1: Choose a flat open space to set up your camping tent. Once you have chosen a place, clean off the ground so it is free of twigs and rocks that could puncture your tent or make sleeping uncomfortable.

STEP 2: Take the tent out of its packaging and unfold it on your tent site so the top is exposed. Locate the door and position it so it is facing your campsite. Pull all four corners of the tent to where you want them to be located.

STEP 3: Put all the support rods together. They are separated into thirds or fourths but all sections are connected by a string making them easy to put together. Average size dome tents will have two long rods.

STEP 4: Insert the rod into the rod slips on each corner of the tent. Slide the rod all the way through to the other end. There is a break in the slip at the top of the tent, so you will need to guide the rod to its second slip.

STEP 5: Insert the end of the rod into the corner socket to secure the rod, then go to the other end of the tent and insert the opposite end of the same rod into the socket. The sockets can be found on a flap on each corner of the tent. Complete this process for the ends of each rod. When you are finished, the tent will be raised off the ground.

STEP 6: Hammer stakes into each corner of the tent. The stake location is next to the socket where you inserted the rods. Putting stakes in the tent will prevent it from blowing in the wind. Once the stakes are in place, the tent will have its final shape.

So that's what I set myself out to do I followed the steps one by one, and there it was, "Voila!" I said to myself. I put my sleeping bag down in the tent and pulled my bag into the tent. I tended the fire while I waited for it to get dark. As the sun rolled over the hill for the last part of daylight, I snuggled into my sleeping bag, and fell fast asleep.

MEANWHILE ACROSS THE ISLAND, ANOTHER BOY WAS MAKING HIS WAY THROUGH THE THICK SHADE OF THE TROPICAL PLANTS CUTTING THEM DOWN WITH HIS MACHETE AND MUMBLING TO HIMSELF, HE TOO WAS LOST ON AN ISLAND JUST LIKE THE BOY ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ISLAND, NOT FOR THE SAME CIRCUMSTANCES AS THE OTHER BOY BUT HE STILL COULDN'T LEAVE.
