"Women are meant to be loved, not to be understood."
-Oscar Wilde

Amayra's pov :

"Good night, Viraj," I said softly, my voice tinged with a mixture of relief and uncertainty.

"Good night, Amayra," he replied, and I offered him a hesitant smile before turning and heading towards my house.

As soon as I walked through the front door, my dad looked up from his newspaper and asked, "Where were you?"

"I was with Viraj," I muttered, avoiding his gaze and heading straight for my room. I wasn't in the mood for a conversation about it.

I slipped into the comfort of my room, shut the door behind me, and headed straight for the shower. The warm water helped ease some of the tension that had settled in my shoulders. After getting dressed in my simple night suit, I lay down on my bed, closing my eyes. A deep sigh escaped my lips as I tried to process everything that had happened.

I wasn't sure if agreeing to this marriage was the right decision. What if Viraj ended up regretting it? What if I did? The entire concept of marriage felt so overwhelming. I'd always been wary of it, partly because of the stark contrast between his family and mine. His family was warm and unpretentious, while my own seemed obsessed with wealth and status.

I found myself praying silently, "God, please help me make sense of all this."

Just then, I heard a soft knock on the door, and my bhabhi's voice came through. "Amayra, come and have your dinner."

"I'm not hungry, bhabhi," I called out, trying to sound firm.

"But—" she began, but I interrupted, "No bhabhi, not tonight."

"Is something wrong? Did everything go well?" she asked as she stepped into the room and took a seat in front of me.

I gave a noncommittal hum in response.

"What do you mean, 'hmm'? Tell me everything!" she insisted, her curiosity evident.

I took a deep breath and admitted, "I decided to give us a chance." Her face brightened with a reassuring smile.

"You did the right thing, Amu," she said warmly.

"So, will you have your dinner now?" she asked gently. I shook my head, indicating no.

She sighed, her concern evident. "Alright, I won't force you. But if you get hungry later, just wake me up, okay?" she said. I nodded in agreement.

"Could you please let bhai know about this?" I asked, hoping he would understand.

"Of course. Good night!" she said with a reassuring tone.

"Good night, bhabhi," I replied, and she left the room, closing the door softly behind her..

Just as I was trying to settle into bed, my phone rang. It was Kashvi.

"Hey, Amy!" she greeted with her usual enthusiasm as I answered the call.

"Hey," I replied, trying to keep my tone casual.

"So, tell me everything! Did he say yes?" she asked, her excitement practically leaping through the phone.

I chuckled at her eagerness. Kashvi always got worked up over the smallest things.

I proceeded to fill her in on everything that had happened yesterday and today—the conversation with Viraj, my mixed feelings, and the advice from bhabhi.

"Oh my god......" she exclaimed as I finished recounting the events. Her dramatic reaction made me pull the phone away from my ear.

"God, Kashvi, calm down," I said, trying to regain my hearing.
