I was lying on my back on the trampoline, looking up at the thunder clouds above me. Ever since i was little, i have been amazed by thunder and lightning. Water started to fall from the sky and i was soaked in seconds. The sky flashed and thunder roared in my ears. I felt the tingling of static electricity as i moved my fingers inches from the elastic. It may sound strange but, being out here, on a trampoline in the middle of a thunder storm calms me. Anyways, the reason i was out besides the fact that i love doing this? I had been arguing with my mother all week simply because i ingnored her boyfriend at the table. I have been grounded for 3 weeks. A bit over the top if you ask me. I managed to get myself garden access as this is where i am most peaceful, apart from my bed. Our garden is massive, it's lined with trees and my huge trampoline is placed in the back half of the place.
I thought about how after arguments i always ended up out here. Most people would have a shower to think or do something productive, like tidy everywhere. I would always come out here, whether there's a storm or not. I sighed and looked up at the sky as it brightened again. I felt the surge of energy as the thunder roared and vibrated through the air. The storm must be right above me, It felt so strong now, and I felt strong too in a weird way.I heard my mother knocking on the glass and i looked at her, i saw her beckoning me inside. She kept looking at the clouds, and she looked worried. My mother loved thunder storms, although she wouldn't go out side like me, she still wasn't bothered by them and if anything she was fascinated by them. i began to feel a bit uneasy but when saw the flash of lightning i felt fine again. the roar of thunder was instant, meaning the storm was right above us. Now I see why she was worried. I looked back at her through the glass and although she was far away i could see the fear that she clearly possessed. I climbed of the trampoline and headed inside. I was soaked. but i didn't care. in fact, I welcomed it, if it meant feeling the electricity in the air rise and fall with the storm, it was worth it.
As i walked through the door my mother was ready with a towel. She wrapped it round me and hugged me.
"Jesus!" she exclaimed.
"what?" i asked curious.
"you just gave me a huge electric shock" she told me.
"that happens when I've been sat on a trampoline in a storm, mom" i laughed "anyway i thought we were arguing"
"well, about that." she looked nervous, like she wanted to tell me something major.
"Go on." I wanted to know what she was getting at.
"I am sorry about the arguing darling. Greg was out of line. He shouldn't of been so harsh with you." she said, surprising me.
"it's okay, mom. But i still think he has no right to ground me." I apreciated her apology, she wasnt used to it and if she apologises first it means she feels bad.
"i know he doesn't, so your un-grounded. If he says anything just tell him i've ungrounded you okay?" she said to me, smiling.
"Okay" i said smiling back.
We hugged, like we always do after an argument.
"well I'm going upstairs, I'll see you in the morning" I said as i walked out of the kitchen.
"okay, i ran the bath for you by the way, your freezing" she said walking behind me but going into the living room.
"Thanks mom" i said as i walked up the stairs.
I stripped out of my wet clothes and put them over the radiator to dry before i put them in the wash. I stepped into the bath with my battered copy of the host and the hot water felt almost as good at the static electricity outside.
