Picking Up Jay

I headed out of the house with my bag over my shoulder and my keys in my hand.

"bye mom!" I shouted as I closed the door behind me.

I unlocked my car and sat down and the leather seats burned my legs. I was wearing shorts, because of the storm last night the weather was great today. Clear blue skies. I turned the key in my old beetle and pulled the roof down. It was one of those soft top roofs so I had to do it myself. I turned on the radio and All Summer Long came on. I pulled out of the drive and headed to Jason's house.

Jason was my best friend. I had known him forever because our mum's were best friends too. We were so close I even had a key to his house, and vice versa. He didn't have a car so I picked him up everyday before school. As I rounded the corner near his house I saw him locking his front door. I beeped my horn at him and he shat himself, I started to laugh and he shot me an evil glare.

"Do you want a ride? If you continue to give me those looks I will reconsider picking you up everyday!" I told him as he climbed into my car.

"I'm sorry amazingly talented and beautiful Nina." he smiled and winked at me.

"That's more like it." I said as I started to drive again.

He looked great today. The sun brightened his face and sparkled off his electric blue eyes. His dark curls were being moved slightly by the wind, and he looked really good in his shades.

"So you still grounded?" he asked

"No, mum let me off but I don't know what brian the bruin will say about it" I replied and Jay started to laugh at the nickname we came up with a few months ago.

"Brian the bruin? More like Brian the twat with no brain cells. I really don't know what Izzy sees in him" he said, think out loud.

"I know. I wonder about that everyday"

"Maybe he has a big c-"

"Shut up! I don't want to think about that!" I screamed at him

"okay okay calm down!" he laughed.

As I was about to take the road that lead us to school,Jay grabbed the wheel and made us miss the turning.

"What you doing dimwit!?" I exclaimed.

"Umm, isn't it obvious? We're ditching today." he told me.

"Why?" I asked him, curious to know his reasoning.

" I found a place I want to take you too. Now pull over, I'm driving"

I sighed as I pulled over and got out of the car to change sides. I poked Jay in the stomach as I passed him. I sat down in the passenger seat and looked at Jay in amusement, I wonder where he was taking me this time.
