My back hurt. Everything hurt actually. I was a wreck; physically and emotionally. I still couldn't wrap my head around being alone in a place I've never seen, looking for a woman I've never met, and all whilst barely being eighteen. I looked over to the clock that was on the left nightstand. 5:30 AM. I couldn't sleep much. I had been in and out of sleep the whole night. My brain reveled in reminding me of what had happened to me. I just want my mom and brother with me, right now. I could only stare at the ceiling and let the tears pour out silently. I needed to be up and ready to leave the hotel by six; I just couldn't bring myself to move. My mother would reprimand me for moping in bed right about now.
My mother. She was never an open book, even to her own children. I didn't know she was from Riverdale and didn't know that she still kept in touch with Alice Cooper. Or well, I would hope she had kept in touch with Alice if she's supposed to help me. I blinked and rubbed my hands over my face and through my hair. I had to get up. I needed to register for school early enough to start today and not miss any classes. I managed to do my hair, makeup, and get dressed relatively quickly. I grabbed my stuff and left the hotel. Walking down the streets of the little town, I noticed quite a few things. A cute little diner called Pop's, hundreds of houses, etc. and finally Riverdale High. Taking a deep breath, I walked through the doors and found the front office. The faint noise of clicking could be heard throughout the hallways and the office. I went up to the front desk to meet a lady with short brown hair, she looked to be about mid-to-late fifties, buts sweet nonetheless. She smiled at me and gave a simple, "good morning. How can I help you?". Her voice reminded me of my mother's which would have made me break down right then and there if I still had the effort to cry. "Good morning, I need to register for classes. I was hoping to start today, if that's possible", I questioned with a polite smile.
"Well of course you can", she spoke before standing and walking over to the file cabinet in the back right corner of the room. I smiled and watched as she got the papers and asked for my information for my previous school. I filled out my registration papers as the woman printed out my transcripts. I finished my papers and turned them in as she handed me my new schedule just as the bell rang. I muttered a thank you as the students came pouring into the building. I looked at my new schedule to find that someone named Kevin Keller was going to give me a tour of the school. Walking out of the office, I was met with a raven-haired girl whom was obviously rich by the way she dressed and carried herself. She took notice of me and walked towards me. "Hey, I'm new here and supposed to be meeting someone for a tour", she stated. I smiled and held up my schedule, "I'm new too. I'm supposed to be getting a tour from someone named Kevin Keller".
"That would be me", a male voice spoke. I turned around to find a boy with short brown hair and blue eyes. Next to him, a blonde girl with a ponytail and blue eyes stood smiling at me and the raven-haired girl. "I'm Veronica Lodge. Nice to meet you", oh. Realization crossed Kevin's face before he began to question Veronica on her father's doings which was very awkward. "Anyways", I cut in, "I'm Y/N Y/L/N. It's nice to meet you all". I shook everyone's hands before getting to the blonde girl. She shook my hand and spoke these next words which made my heart skip a beat.
"I'm Betty. Betty Cooper. Welcome to Riverdale High".
