The harvest season, the time when nature's colors fade into a deep orange-red as it prepares for winter's wrath. During this time it's not uncommon to see folks ready carved pumpkins and apple pies in wait for the spookiest time of the year: Halloween. And there was one girl who was the most exciting for this than anyone else in all of Japan, and her name was Hatsune Miku, a well known singer throughout the world. Halloween was one of the most festive times of the year, and Miku loved everything about it. But out of all the festivities, the yearly hay maze was her all time favorite.
“This will be so much fun!” Miku said to herself on her way to the Halloween festival. She began to skip merrily before stopping and thinking to herself. “Now that I think about it… I’ve always done this maze by myself. Even when I discovered this maze a few years back I always went by myself. Well this time will be different!” Miku took out her cell phone and looked through her contacts. First she called Kaito, but he didn't pick up. Then Meiko, no answer. Len and Rin, Both nothing. Miku tried nearly every number on her phone; Gumi, Luka, Tei, Defoko, Teto, Haku, Fukase, Flower, Piko, Yuuma, and even Yohio. Then, she came down to the last person she wanted to join her, Kamuri Gakupo. She dialed his number. The phone rang…
    “Hewmo.” Gakupo answered.
“OH, did I call at a bad time?” Miku asked.
Gakupo was silent for a moment. “Nah. I was having lunch, I'm free otherwise. Say, I don’t think you’ve ever called me before. I didn’t recognize your number at first.”
Miku paused for a moment. “Yeah, I guess I don’t.”
    “So, what is it?”
“Well, I was going to a hay maze this year and I didn’t want to go alone so… I wanted to know if you wanted to come with me?”  Gakupo became silent again, most likely surprised by the sudden offer.
“Well, I mean, what time?” he asked with an obvious shake in his voice.
“I’m already 20 minutes away from it, how far are you?”
“Is it that same maze you go to every year?” Gakupo asked.
    “Yes.” Miku replied.
“Ah, that’s pretty close to where I am. I c-c-can meet you there.”
“Awesome, see you soon Gaku-San.” Miku hung up and continued her walk to the maze. The walk was relatively peaceful and overwhelmingly beautiful. The dance of falling leaves coating the ground ever so gracefully right before being satisfyingly crunched beneath Miku’s shoes. It was truly a wondrous day. Miku was almost at the maze when she saw Gakupo waiting for her outside the entrance of the festival grounds. He looked up and quickly got up once he saw Miku’s swift approach.
“Miku-chan! It’s good to see you.” He said with a smile.
“Gaku-kun, I’m glad you made it.” Miku responded warmly. “C’mon let’s go!”
“Um actually.” Gakupo began. Miku stopped. “I wanted to ask if… we could get something to drink together first. To keep our sugar levels up?”
    “Oh. Sure!” Miku replied kindly.
“Really. O-oh, cool! On me, of course.” Gakupo stuttered. Miku and Gakupo together departed to a nearby cafe near the festival grounds. Inside, they waited in a decently short line.
“I’ll have the limited edition pumpkin spice latte with cinnamon, chocolate, caramel, and extra whip cream.” Miku said to the barista.
“Miku, that is probably the unhealthiest order I’ve ever heard.” Gakupo said.
“It’s a treat, I wanna have a lil something. Just this once.” Miku responded.
“Um…alright…” Gakupo responded. “I’ll just have a normal pumpkin spice latte.”
The two sat together after receiving their drinks. “Is that any good?” Gakupo asked.
    “Yes!” Exclaimed Miku.
Curious, “can I try it?” Gakupo asked without thinking.
    “Uhm…”
    “If not, that's okay.”
“Sure, sure you can.” Miku then responded. Gakupo, still curious, leaned over and took a sip for himself.
“Woah… that’s not bad but… way too much sugar.”
“I like it that way.” Miku smiled, already nearly done. The two finished up and headed out, it’s maze time.
Gakupo and Miku headed into the festival and went straight to the maze. In the crowd Miku spotted a familiar face.
“Yuuma-san!” Miku waved. Yuuma turned around and gave a pleasest wave. “I didn't know you were going to be here. I tried to call you but you didn’t pick up. Yuuma took his phone out of his pocket, completely smashed.
“I dropped it.” he said softly. Gakupo started in utter bewilderment.
“How did you manage to do that?!” Gakupo asked.
“I dropped it down the stairs.” Yuuma corrected. “I probably should get it fixed. See ya…”
“Oh, do you want to come with us to the maze?” Miku asked.
Yuuma looked back at the two. “I’ll catch up with you.” Yuuma departed. Miku looked at Gakupo before entering the maze together.
“Is this normally hard?” asked Gakupo.
“Well, I've done mazes so long it’s not too hard for me. Here.” Miku took Gakupo’s hand and began to guide him through the maze. Gakupo kindly followed Miku through the twists and turns.
“So, you’re really good at mazes?” Gakupo asked, impressed.
“Yeah, they’re easy for me.” Miku smiled. The two wandered through each pathway that came before them.
“Miku… do you know where we’re going?” Gakupo asked, noticing how long this was taking.
“This maze is relatively big.” Miku answered. “It's just going to take us a while. I’m surprised no one else is here. Maybe they gave up.”
Gakupo looked around. There wasn’t a soul in sight.
“You know, Miku-Chan.” Gakupo started. Miku looked back at him. “There’s something I’ve wanted to ask you.”
    “Really? What is it?”
“It’s just well… I like you. I like you a lot. I love you Miku.”
“Oh! This is sudden.” Miku said, nervously. Miku never thought in a million years that she and Gakupo would ever be a couple. This was why he was so nervous before, wasn’t it? He was harboring feelings. Gakupo took both of Miku’s hands into his own hands.
“I know this is sudden. But I do have feelings for you.” Gakupo admitted with a nervous smile. Miku could feel Gakupo shaking. “I promise I’ll be a good boyfriend.”
“Gakupo…” Miku began. Miku thought about it. “...We can try.”
“R-really!” Gakupo said happily. Gakupo pulled Miku into his embrace. “I promise I’ll make your everyday full of happiness.” Miku really began to think about this decision, Gakupo was… weird, sometimes even desperate. But he was a very playful samurai, maybe being with Gakupo may be nice, he just needed a chance to prove it.
“Found you.” Yuuma said as he quietly stood behind the new couple.
“ACK! Yuuma!!! You scared us!” Gakupo shouted.
    “Sorry.” Yuuma responded quietly.
    “Hi Miku.” It was Teto.
“Teto! What a surprise!” Miku responded.
“She was also at the phone repair place.” Yuuma said. “So we both decided to come meet you two here.” Yuuma looked down and saw Gakupo and Miku were holding hands. He silently looked back up at them.
“Awww! You two are adorable together!” Teto blurted out.
“I wasn’t going to say anything, but those were my thoughts exactly.” Yuuma admitted. Gakupo and Miku just stared at them for a good minute before Gakupo cleared his throat.
“Well, we don’t have all day, shall we keep moving?”
“Yes, let's, I have no idea how long I’ve been here for.” Yuuma admitted.
    “10 minutes.” Teto informed him.
    “Felt like hours.”
    “It really didn’t.”
“It does for me.” Yuuma said before beginning to walk away. Miku led the charge as the three of them continued through the maze. It wasn’t long before they found the exit.
“We did it!” Miku cheered. Yuuma had a satisfied smile on his face, so did the others. Gakupo looked around the small crowd and saw Kaito who unknowingly was walking their way. The first chance he got, Gakupo pulled in Miku and kissed her. Kaito happened to look over and saw the display. He stood in utter bafflement. Miku and Gakupo looked at each other, blushing. Then, their attention shifted to Kaito.
    “Kaito!” Miku said.
    “Gaku? GAKU?!” Kaito began. “GAKUPO?!!!!”
    “Katio.” Gakupo said.
    “Gakupo.”
    “Kaito.”
“Yuuma.” Yumma chimed in. The two looked at Yuuma unamused, Yuuma took a step back behind Teto.
“I can’t believe you’re dating my sister!” Kaito began the fight, shoving Gakupo unsuccessfully.
“I asked her, and she said yes.” Gakupo replied, his arm crossed.
“You better have some responsibility over yourself if you’re going to date MY sister!”
“Okay.” Gakupo replied calmly. “I can show you how responsible I can be. I swear I will take the bestest care of Miku.”
    “Really?”
    “Yes really.”
“Great, I can’t wait to see how responsible you can be.”
“I can’t wait to show you.”
“Um guys?...” Miku butted in. “I appreciate how much you two care about me. But Kaito, I really believe Gakupo and I will be alright together.”
    “Are you sure?” asked Kaito.
“Really sure.” Miku replied with a reassuring smile. Kaito looked at Gakupo again disapprovingly, but said nothing more. Kaito patted his sister on the head.
“Kaito, I found a good spot, come over here!”
“Who is that?” asked Miku. “Luka? What are you here with Luka?”
    “Oh…Luka and I are well…” Kaito began.
“Dating.” Gakupo said, cutting off Kaito. Kaito looked at Gakupo in complete embarrassment.
“Yes.” Kaito admitted. “Luka and I are a thing.”
“Since when?” asked Teto in curiosity.
“I asked her out last night.” Kaito admitted as well, still clearly embarrassed.
“I thought you and Meiko…” Yuuma began.
“She left me.” Kaito admitted as well.
    “O..oh I’m sorry.” Yuuma replied.
“It’s alright.” Kaito signed. “It was inevitable.”
    “Osake?” Yuuma asked.
    “Yeah…”
“Well you two are SOOOOOOO cute together!” Teto chimed in.
    “Th-thanks Teto-san.” Kaito replied, blushing.
“Kaito!” Luka began to wave her hands. Kaito went over to join her. Teto shoved Miku and Gakupo over to them along with Yuuma. As Kaito sat with his girlfriend, Gakupo and Miku were shoved next to them along with Yuuma whom Teto held onto in her own romantic delusions.
“Oh! Miku, Gakupo, what a splendid surprise.” Luka said.
    “Yeah…” Kaito added, embarrassed.
“You two are so adorable together.” Luka clapped her hands together.
Gakupo placed his hand on top of Miku’s and looked up at the sky. “So what is happening?”
“Halloween special firework show.” Yuuma replied as he read a pamphlet he received from the ticketmaster. “Says they make spooky shapes and everything.”
“Wow!” Miku cherred in excitement. Then… BOOM.
“It’s starting! IT’S STARTING!” Teto screamed. Everyone looked up at the magnificent light display as a band began to play a beautiful yet somber melody. Luka shivered as the sun disappeared under the horizon. Kaito looked over at her and shared his scarf around her neck. Luka looked back at him and cuddled close. Yuuma looked up at the sky in pure amazement. Teto giggled at how cute he was.
Yuuma looked at her. “What’s so funny?”
“You look like a kitten staring at the sky.” Teto laughed. Yuuma blushed in embarrassment. Gakupo wrapped his hand around Miku as the sky lit bright with Orange, white, and purple. As the finale started to show its grand power, Gakupo carefully placed his hand under Miku’s chin and leaned in for the kiss. Miku wrapped her arms around Gakupo, it was then she didn’t regret accepting Gakupo’s confession, not at all. Yuuma held up a fictional camera and pretended to take a photo of the two, Teto laughed. As the fireworks show ended with one last loud Bang, the show was over. Everyone began to get up and head home.
“I’m guessing I’ll see you home, Miku?” asked Kaito.
“Oh? You’re going without me?” asked Miku in return.
“I’m taking Luka home first. See you later.” Kaito began to walk off with Luka as he paused and turned and looked at Gakupo with an approving smile before departing. Gakupo started off with a surprised expression. Miku giggled before taking Gakupo’s hand and beginning to leave with him. Yuuma watched them with a smile. Teto looked over at Yuuma, almost expecting him to also offer her a walk home. Yuuma looked at her, “I’m heading to get a sandwich, wanna come?” he asked. Teto eyes lit up and nodded excitedly. The magic of Autumn is a mystical anomaly that can bring the most unlikely of people together.
