•LIES & SUSPICIONS•
A couple hours passed since the small group began their hike through the dense Colorado woods.
After ten minutes in, it seemed like Katie had enough of it. She was miserable. Her skin was sweaty and it itched from the numerous bug bites she had accumulated—even with her skin covered, clad with fabric and doused in bug spray, the pesky mosquitoes still got to her. Then, if it was possible her head pounded—worse than when she woke up—and to top it all off, just shortly into the hike she discovered the breakfast she ate on the way to the trail was a bad idea. It wasn't until she was beside a tree hunched over, hurling up the contents of her stomach she regretted even getting out of bed.
The stubborn thought crossed her mind that, maybe she should have sat this one out . . .
She shrugged off everyone's suspicious eyes considering that's all she could do. She was quick to lie and tell the three judgy strangers that she just had a bad stomach bug—something basic and believable. It was better than admitting she was deathly hungover because she drank enough for a small village the night before.
She needed to keep up the facade of being a realistic ranger alongside the boys. However, she had a feeling they weren't selling it very well. Between Dean's clothes, Katie's current state, and Sam's more than serious attitude about the whole thing they were bound to get caught sooner than later.
