Will's pov:

       One day left.

That thought plagued me since I woke up. My mind was like an endless rollercoaster, going through an endless cycle of anticipation and dread. What would they say?

"William, are you alright?" Y/N looked at me with concern. "You look like you saw a ghost."

"S-sorry, I've just been spacing out." I faked a smile. "Nothing to worry about."

Their face showed they didn't buy it, but didn't choose to ask more.

The two of us were in the dining room, having some breakfast. Y/N's other relatives weren't there. Did they always eat alone? How come I never noticed?

I took a breath, feeling a little bit relaxed. "Hey Y/N?"

"What is it?" they replied. Their e/c eyes were gazing into mine.

"I-I was wondering if we could-"

"May I talk to you, young man?" Ford's voice made me jump in my seat. How did he get here without me knowing?

"O-of course." I followed him as we exited the dining room. I glanced back at Y/N, who was staring after me. They quickly turned their head away from me.

What did Ford want? Did he recognize me? Why did Y/N look away from me?

"I wanted to talk to you about last night," Ford said once we were alone.

We were in what seems to be Ford's study. I grimaced at the animal heads placed on the wall. Papers were sorted neatly on his desk.

"Y-yes sir?" I asked meekly. My anxiety from last night came back to me.

"I noticed that Y/N forgot to mention to me about your arrival," the older man frowned. "Not only that, I also noticed how they were spending a lot of time with you."

         "I-is that bad, s-sir?"

"It wasn't before, but it is now."

I froze in fear. What was Ford going to do? Did Ford think I was a suitor, like the ones that went after Y/N unsuccessfully?

"W-what do you mean?" I gulped.

"I can't allow Y/N to be with a coward. Especially someone like you. They would want someone who doesn't make a fool of themselves."

       "B-"

"No buts." Ford held up his hand. "I suggest you leave, William. Your visit has been overextended."

"...Y-yes, sir." Tears started to form in my eyes. I knew if I argued more it wouldn't do anything.

After I left the study, I took a final glance at Y/N. Their expression was unreadable, but when they saw me, a flicker of concern crossed their face.

Y/N's pov:

"William, are you okay?" I bolted from my seat and came close to him. What did Ford say to you?

He tried to tell me, but he started sobbing uncontrollably.

"Don't worry, it's okay." Without hesitating, I wrapped my arms around him. For some reason, I felt a pang of longing for him. I hadn't felt it with another boy, only Will. Could he be...?

I pushed that thought out of my head as quickly as it came. It was just wishful thinking. Besides, Will's a merman. How could they be the same person? But I still can't be able to shake the feeling...

"What happened?" I asked when William stopped crying.

"F-Ford wants me to leave," he hiccupped. "And...I can't spend time with you anymore."

My eyes widened. Did I hear that right? "I'm sorry, what do you mean?"

"Ford doesn't want me here anymore. He says that you wouldn't want to be with someone like me." William's blue eyes were full of sadness as he gazed into mine. I curiously gazed back. Why did his eyes remind me of Will?

"He said that?" I paused uncertainly. "Wait, are you, like, interested in me?"

He rubbed the back of his neck, his face clearly uncomfortable by my question. "Yes, I am interested in you," he answered after a moment.

My ears turned red. This wasn't going to end well. "I-I'm sorry, Will-I mean, William-"

"Did you just call me Will?" A hopeful expression flickered on his face.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to call you that." William's expression was crestfallen. "I'm in love with someone else. You...you remind me of him." Then it was my turn to start bawling.

William silently wrapped me in his arms as tears ran down my cheeks.

After my sobs were quieter, I continued, "H-he disapppeared a couple days ago. I don't where he is, and I'm scared that I'll never be able to confess to him..."

"Confess to him about what?" William's face was stony.

I took a deep breath. "That I'll never be able to tell Will that I'm in love with him."

As soon as I finished speaking, I noticed a few golden particles of dust on William's shoulders. William was crying, but with a huge grin this time. No-it was Will!

"Will!" I tackled him into a hug. tears that matched his streamed down my cheeks. "I missed you so much!"

He laughed happily while hugging me tightly. "Missed you too, Y/N," he chuckled.

We stood like this until I heard someone clear their throat.I quickly pulled away from the embrace and blushed. I looked to find it was Grunkle Ford, staring at me sternly. "Sorry, Grunkle Ford."

"Y/N. How is Will a human? And you're in love with him? Y/N, you know that monstrosity-" Ford was soon interrupted by an unfamilliar man.

"How about you forget about Will?" The blond-haired man grinned, and almost immediately golden dust was on Grunkle Ford.

Grunkle Ford blinked, looking dazed. When he looked at Will, he confusedly asked, "Y/N, who's this young man? I don't remember him."

"Grunkle Ford" I linked my arm into Will's. "This is my boyfriend, Will."

                          --------------------------------------------------------------

Third person pov:

As the three of the humans-well, two humans and a merman who can turn into one-were looking away from him, Bill teleported out of the Gleeful manor. He started walking back to the beach, to return to his lair.

"I always love happy endings," he chuckled. "Besides, even if he failed, I don't have enough room to house an apprentice."

                                                                      The End!
